Pricing announced for 2007 Dodge Nitro

The Dodge Nitro, dubbed "the brand's first mid-size SUV" by Tom Loveless, Dodge's Director of Marketing and Global Communications, will arrive in dealerships in October with price tags starting at $19,885 for a RWD base model.
The five-passenger Nitro is available in three flavors: the SXT, SLT and R/T. Standard motivation for the SXT and SLT is a 210 hp 3.7-liter V6. The R/T features a new 4-liter V6 putting out 255 hp and 265 ft-lb of torque.
The SXT entry level 4x4 in the range is priced at $21,395. Both SXT models come standard with a six-speed manual transmission.
The upmarket SLT is available in a RWD version starting at $23,295, and a 4x4 model starting at $24,805. Both come standard with a four-speed automatic 'box.
The more performance-oriented R/T model gets the new 4-liter V6 as standard, matched up with a five-speed automatic transmission. The R/T also features a performance suspension and 20-inch chromed alloys.

"Dodge's first mid-size SUV"??? What do they call the Durango then? Fullsize? LOL. I guess that's why they're giving away a free Durango when you buy a Caravan at the local dealer in Southfield! Too much inventory across all of Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep. They're REALLY going to be hurting when they have to start cutting back on production. Too many me-too products competing within their own house. Too many products (like this one) that serve no purpose.

I saw a few in person at the Dream Cruise and it's super-sharp looking. Easily the best styling of any SUV in it's class.
All of Chrysler's new SUVs look like big losers(Aspen, restyled Durango, Patriot), except for this one. It's a great all-around package and nicely executed.
With fuel prices looking to never come down automakers would be best off giving SUVs captivating styling, not the bland, cookie-cutter looks of GM's GMT900 fullsized SUVs and trucks or the sheer hideousness of the Durango and Aspen.

Say what you want, this thing looks great!
This is what Jeep needed to have instead of the moronic Compass/Patriot brothers.

Let's see, the base is $19,885 for a RWD stripper, so the car that I'd want will be about $32,500 with options, but will be $27,000 by next summer (after rebates.) Right?
It does look muy macho compared to the more jellybean shaped competitors.

Four wheel drive and a six speed manual? Awesome! Plus, I'm one of the few that actually finds this SUV attractive.

Neat, you can get 20's stock!
Lets make that already average braking worse by throwing even more unsprung weight on for the sake of B.L.I.N.G.
Oops, I forget... these are "but how cool does it look" vehicles. Nevermind.

But the 20s will give you a bigger contact patch, so it all evens out. =)

This is what the Jeep Liberty should have looked like; and they should have kept the "Cherokee" nameplate as well. It seems like Dodge and Chrysler get all the cool models, while Jeep gets stuck with the blah Grand Cherokee, the "cute" Liberty, and truly hideous Compass. What next, a new Wrangler based on a Town and County minivan?
The DaimlerChrysler board must still hold a grudge against the original Jeep, which helped the good 'ol USA defeat the Third Reich. It's the only viable explanation for the methodical destruction of their strongest brand.

#14 is not far off on the minivan comment as the 07 wrangler uses a 3.8L v6 used in .... you guessed it the dodge minivans.

Gee this looks like their 2nd SUV....
"This is what the Jeep Liberty should have looked like;"
Don't count that out yet. The Liberty for 08 grows larger, is more squared off...think Mini-Commander...
