eBay Find of the Day: first Ultimate Aero TT supercar
"Other makes," indeed. Its the first of just 24 to come over the next two years, and it's yours for the right price. Starting out at a mere $280,000 in a no-reserve auction, the SSC Ultimate Aero TT boasts pretty serious performance numbers: 0-60 in 2.78 seconds, 9.90 at 144 mph in the quarter mile and 0-100-0 in 11.66 seconds. Pretty hot, by any standards. The twin-turbo V8 churns out 1180 hp and 961 lb-ft of torque, likely putting it well ahead of the speed-queen Bugatti Veyron (no figures on top speed have been released, but the speedometer tops out at 280).
What's more is that this car is not a speed mule like some other supercars. The eBay listing indicates the car will come equipped with luxuries such as navigation, 8-speaker premium sound system with CD and DVD, and even an automatic backup camera.
The car is scheduled to premiere this January, but we'll have to wait until May to see what it can really do at a speed contest held in Wolfsburg, Germany.

"listing indicates the car will come equipped with luxuries such as navigation, 8-speaker premium sound system with CD and DVD, and even an automatic backup camera."
Also available in the 2007 Wrangler and the 2007 Stratus... these items are no longer considered luxuries, these are considered mainstream.

I don't think he meant for the word 'luxury' to compare to the luxury car segment. Having any amenities at all in a car that's purpose-built for this level of performance, whether they're common in other cars or not, can be defined accurately as luxuries.

Drive a [claimed] 280 mph in a fiberglass kit-car built in someone's garage? Not that I doubt the prowess of his makeshift, shopfan wind tunnel, but I'm gonna have to pass.
So is this V8 Chevy-derived or Ford-derived?
Does the price include the Fiero-platform or is that added?

the design is bland but not ofensive.
It is deff a bargain if it can go 273mph.

I'm not sure about the V8, but those HID headlights sure are Fords. Straight off of the SVT Focus....

Interesting how they have videos of dyno testing on their site yet none of the videos show the displayed results. Despite the attempt at producing evidence of HP claims, one just has to take their word for it. While I'd probably trust a big manufacturer's claims, who are these guys?
I played with their site and didn't see an address or phone number, even when hitting the "Contact Us" link. They're called SSC, LLC and the first "S" stands for Shelby but not for Carroll Shelby.
Such things don't exactly build confidence.

so this guy has been an ebay member for 5 years, and only managed to buy three things and sell two - the two he sold were some random turbo parts and an F-body forced induction setup.. and now he's selling a $280k supercar? highly suspect..

Just because the speedometer goes to 280, doesn't mean it will actually do it.
My 4 cyl Accord speedometer goes to 160 or something like that. No it won't do 160.
When I used to own a 330ci, people would ask "how fast will it go?" then lean in and look at my speedometer and say "Dang! That speedo goes way up there!". I would usually take that as my que to leave.

I was at least moderately excited when they announced this car last year. However, looking at this tight shot above, it looks like a plastic car, and I concur with anahit - SSC has had a while to prove real HP, and they still have nothing more than wind tunnel estimates. This car may be faster (ultimately) than the Veyron, but the Veyron is top shelf all the way, this looks (and smells) like half baked kit car.

Well, I'm sorry ! But I just don't happen to have the $1.4 mil for the Bugatti, so I guess I'll just take the half-baked kit car for $280,000
*walks away in a huff*

Well I guess you all would be jealous if you couldn't afford the Ultimate Aero jealousy usually leads to needless bashing... While you are all sitting at your blue collar job listening to your wife complain about not having a big enough trailer and the van needs an oil change the owner of SSC is sitting pretty on his gold mine selling these cars. Let us see any of you come up with something like this and make millions... I'm sure his wife isn't complaining about the Aero her husband takes her to dinner in, and his kids are probably driving nicer SUV's than you! Your whole entire assets probably don't add up to one of his cars... How much do you all make a year? As you can see the high bidders don't seem too bothered by your complaints!
I will admitt even I am jealous of this car and wouldn't mind getting one if I could afford it!

This car is garbage compaired to the Bugatti. This car reminds me of the American produced Vector Twin Turbo from the eighties. Anyone can produce horse power but the Bugatti Veyron masters it. Stop looking for a cheap way out. The Bugatti is the best. This is like compairing a very small baby to a fully grown, super buff man.

You know, even if I had the money, I wouldn't buy either of those... Sure they're the fastest cars on earth, but what about the corners? The Bugatti weighs 4100lbs for God's sake. If I had that kinda cash I'd just opt for a 2706lb 650hp Pagani Zonda F Clubsport and if I really wanted more power I'd take it to the people at Brabus to put some twin turbos on it's AMG V12. Even after all that it'd still be cheaper than the Bugatti or the slightly less astronomically priced SSC.
