Spy Shots: Peugeot 7007 and Citroen C9 SUVs

Who says that Europeans, especially the French, are not interested in SUVs? Automaker PSA has partnered with Mitsubishi Motors to develop a pair of new soft roaders, the Peugeot 7007 and Citroen C9.
Details are still sketchy, but both vehicles will be based on the new Mitsubishi Outlander which is due in the U.S. soon. Possible engines include a 170-bhp, 2.4-liter gas engine from Mitsubishi and a 136-bhp 2.0-liter diesel provided by PSA. The French automaker plans to roll out both SUVs sometime in 2007 at a price of between €20,000 and €30,000.

I don't know if anyone here's blind, but can't you see? Look at the shape of the back side- exactly as the Mitsubishi Outlander, Peugeot 4007 and Citroen C-Crosser. And the "face"- the same as peugeot 4007, the same headlights, the same "mouth". So it is a colage, with nothing real in it. The one who made it haven't even thought of changing the curves, it seems...

Looks like they got more than just an engine from Mitsubishi. Based off of the Outlander? More like IS the Outlander, just with a new face. Gotta make their money somehow.

Too plain and too cumbersome looking. They shouldn't make full scale SUV because the competition would eat them alive (ML, x5, q7 etc...) and make something in the line of Vitara or X3

It is more than just based on the Outlander. It will be built by Mitsubishi, simply with different sheetmetal. The differences will be like those between the Dodge Dakota/Mitsubishis Raider.

Knock the French for ripping off a Japanese platform for a suv, but they kind of need to; this is what happened when they tried it themselves: http://www.citroen.com/CWW/en-US/YOURCITROEN/PHOTOSANDVIDEOS/History/MEHARI . It is a good thing that Mitsubishi is getting some help staying solvent. The French may come up with some pompous new French name for SUVs (http://www.wired.com/news/culture/0,1284,59674,00.html), but they've still stooped to driving them.

Since when does an badly done Photoshop picture become a "spy shot"?

The only thing the French do well is surrender. Oh, well there is that kiss thing.

Wow, that's got to be the worst "artist's concept" for a vehicle I've ever seen.

Agreed with #6. This is a poor excuse for spy shot.

I think you guys need to start being more accurate in your post titles. There is a difference between a "Spy Shot" and an "Artist's Rendering".
Just my two cents for today.

i don't think even the French would really make something this ugly.
Since they are still just discussing a partnership, you have to wonder if this...vehicle? will actually be based on the NEXT Outlander (the one following the version about to be introduced).

Photoshop can't do miracles when you don't know how to use it.

Man, that's embarrassing for Peugeot.
I have been waiting to see what the Frenchies would come out with since the OEM agreement was signed with Mitsu last year. Apparently they didn't have much budget to work with (assuming, of course, this mock-up is close to what they will actually produce).
I mean seriously, they may as well have just crossed out "Mitsubishi" and wrote "Peugeot" on the hood in crayon.
/Good thing for them the Outlander is a good car to start with.
//Lucky Frenchies -- nice car, no R&D costs
