'Esprit' badge will be revived on Lotus supercar

Lotus CEO Mike Kimberley let slip in an interview with PistonHeads that the Hethel-based automaker would indeed be calling its upcoming mid-engine supercar the Esprit, a name that graced the flanks of the supercar for which Lotus is most well known. The slip was entirely unintentional, as a PR person next to the CEO corrected his boss on the reference, saying that what he meant to say was 'the mid-engined sports car". Sure, right.

The elise and its electric cousin are awsome pure sports cars, but a more luxurious and powerful one seems like it will just be an overpriced cayman. What I would really like to get some inside information on is some of thier consulting projects.

The more luxurious (comfortable) elise is the Europa, not the new Esprit.
The Esprit will be either a NA or Turborcharge V8, and will be much more than an 'overpriced caymam'
The new Esprit will likely be billed as an AMV8 Vantage competetor, if not a bit higher.

Oops, replace cayman with Z06 in my initial post. Seriously though, I have a lot of respect for lotus being willing to share it's technology with other companies that can leverage it new ways, such as Tesla and whovever else lotus is currently confidentially working with.
