Dwayne Wade, chef Rocco DeSpirito tapped for Lincoln ads

Dwayne Wade is still fresh from his first NBA title with the Miami Heat and a "King of Bling" award at GM's All-Car Showdown for custom Hummer H2 SUT. Lincoln has announced, however, that the NBA All-Star will appear in a TV spot for its new Navigator. Celebrity chef Rocco DeSpirito will also appear in ads for the luxury automaker, which will be part of the new "Advancing the American Dream" campaign.
The series of ads is said to be the largest push by Lincoln in over a decade, and is intended to "speak to people achieving success on their own terms". The first spots are said to show the Lincoln product itself (the Navigator, MKZ, and MKX), while the celebs will hit the screen later when the vehicles start arriving in showrooms. Expect the D-wade ad sometime in September. Does this mean the NBA All-Star has traded in his blinged-out Hummer H2 SUT for a new Navi? What would Shaq say?

*Gag* Name one thing that a pop / rap / NBA star has contributed (of value) to the car world. If I ever turn on a bio of a star and hear them talking about the adjustible shocks or cold-air intake they put on their car I will buy eveyr CD and concert ticket they sell. I am sick of the predictable Escalade, H2, Ferrari 360, Lambo Gallardo, Bentley Cont. GT lineup made worse by the addition of oversized (and overweight) wheels that destroy the handeling characteristics of the car. This wouldnt bother me except that car manufactures are trying to get on the bandwagon! Stop making cars longer, widers, taller, heavier, and f***ing more in-your face. What happened to subtle beauty? Classy european sedans? Understated but over-performing coupes?

That grille is bigger and has more metal than my Mazda3.
Obscene is the only word fit for that.

The grill looks great. Lincoln seems to be targeting a smaller but richer market as they seemingly believe thats who will buy this 'tank' with gas prices so high. It definitly succeeds in separating its self from the hummer and escalade.

I hate it when celebrities try and sell me product. What the hell has an NBA player done that makes him a car expert. Its as bad as actors, whose job is to read the thought of others in a convincing fashion, pontificating on politics. If Lincoln wants to insult me with this type of campaign, I'm going to make they assumption that they don't know anymore about building cars than do their celebrity pitchmen.

Why do people get so mad about endorsements? I don't get it.
Of course they aren't experts, they're celebrties. Get over it already.

yo-yo, Regarding the grill, if they're gonna find an NBA 'playa' to push the 'Gatorz' they need to find one with a "mouf" full of braces, so when he smile next to 'da grill' his "mouf" will look like the from of the 'Gator'. Know what I'm SAYIN??

Yes, yes, yes...Ford should follow DC's example and get a Dr.Z because that's working so well right now.

Has anybody else noticed that Lincoln-Mercury ads make no mention of the
Town Car or the Grand Marquis? Is Ford ashamed of the fact that these two
lines actually were profitable?

chitlins?? Uh, yeah.... you went a little over the top on that comment.
I'm sort of biased on this, mainly because I don't feel people that play a f*cking GAME, should get paid millions of dollars a year.
But we keep giving them money...
Oh and that grill is horrible, Ford.... ya slipping!!

Ken, you're right. Pehaps Paul Wall can do an advertisement smiling with his grill next to the Lincoln grill. Now that's dope.
