Top Gear now available online, legally!
In an effort to stem the tide of YouTube viewed episodes, BBC has taken the next logical step and offered up the entire season of Top Gear online, at no charge.Although we all know of other resources for getting our latest fix from the tall one, the short one and the slow one, it's nice to know that the BBC is granting the rest of us a legal alternative to see, arguably, the greatest motoring show in the world.

This is great news...if you live in the UK. If you live outside of the UK this service doesn't work according to BBC2's website.

Where is the link to the shows? I don't see any mention of this on the Top Gear site.

Yeah, unless BBC changed their website to allow people OUTSIDE of ENGLAND to view the videos (cheap cunts that they are), this news doesn't help anyone.

Just tried accessing it and it's not working yet. The slow blokes are probably off wanking each other off in the boot before they reset their servers to allow people outside of the island to watch.

It is already available outside of England: Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man, Channel Islands. Infact, all of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland!

Well I think that there will still be people who will put copies on You Tube for the rest of the world to see. I think that there will be a few who miss the arguments between the three of them otherwise.

You got me excited for a minute but..back to bittorent.
I still hope one day they will realize the US demand for the excellent show (unhacked, and not re-shot with american hosts) and we can enjoy the real top gear on regular cable.

Do you really think this show is better than Fifth Gear? I love to watch Jeremy Clarkson stand around and remind everyone how smart he is and funny he is and sophisticated and experience with cars! He even has his very own auto show, in case you couldn't quite get enough of him and his infinite wisdom. I know he can't get enough of himself.
Legal, schmegal. Watch whatever you want on YouTube. The FBI has better things to do than care about illegal downloads. If it was broadcast once, it's fair game.

When will the BBC /US channel get that there is a HUGE demand for the show to be aired over here, uncut and un-molested. Making the show available only in the uk online is pointless unless for some reason someone in the U.K. doesnt have a tv. MAKE IT INTERNATIONAL OR SHOW IT ON US TV!!!

Interestingly enough they manage to crash both the latest Safari & Firefox in OS X when you set a codec preference and try to view a clip from the US. Tried half a dozen times. Never fails to crash either. Nice code work - not!

Isn't this show already available in the US on Discovery Science Channel? They also played it for a season and a half on regular Discovery channel

It's great they are online but it really sucks they are only available in horrible windows media and Real. And You Tube isn't much better as that quality is bad too. Let's get this show on iTunes or in a better (legal) downloadable format! We need to see these cars in their pristine quality!

@8 .. "Making the show available only in the uk online is pointless unless for some reason someone in the U.K. doesnt have a tv."
The BBC say "If you are outside the UK you will not be able to watch any of the video on bbc.co.uk/bbctwo for rights reasons"
That is one of the reasons - the other being, that in the UK you have to pay a TV Licence to watch anything which is either a terrestrial or satellite broadcast, or (officially) a video-stream onto a pc of something which was shown on either terrestrial or satellite television - If you haven't paid for it, then you don't get to see it - daft I know but it is the truth (and the law, punishable by fines and jail terms!!!)

Proxy server access anyone? :-)

cody beat me to it... you just need to use a proxy server in the UK. If you were smart enough to figure out how to grab the torrent in the past then you should be able to figure out the proxy game.
has anybody tested for quaily, how does it compare to the 700mb versions from torrent?

They should just sell DVDs here.. I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Especially if they offered all the seasons..

nez. - I would ***LOVE*** the show on DVD. They could just sell it online at the BBC USA shop and it would be good. Imagine how many people would buy it - as in, a whole hell of a lot.

This is by far the best show in the world. Simply astonishing ;)
You can get the much nicer (almost HD quality) torrent feeds from finalgear.com

I second that. If they would just offer the seasons on DVD I'd fork over the cash without a problem. Sucks that it is not available on BBC/America.

The reason it's only available in the UK is because we pay a licence fee over here which funds the BBC (there's no ad breaks in the shows, and only adverts for other BBC shows between programmes), and since we have already paid for it we have a right to watch it whenever we please, those of you outside the UK haven't paid for it, and therefore have absolutely no right to watch it, so go grab the torrent from finalgear.com :)
