Toyota is indeed taking over the global market. Even the Chinese market is starting to be dominated by it.

Yep, they're great now ... but, has anyone noticed how few differences really exist between a Camry and ES350? Saw one tonight at dinner and thought I could see where the pilot holes were shared for exterior badging, not to mention the shared body panels.

They generate 38% of all recalls in the first half and business is booming. Sounds like the kind of country that would elect a moron with no discernable skills and a track record of failure who only promotes his friends and donors to jobs for which they're not qualified - TWICE.
Is this a stupid country or WHAT?

Uh dude...Toyota is based out of Japan, not the US, so don't go pretending like it is otherwise. Plus, toyota still builds cars like the best of the them, so don't go ragging on the recalls too much. I would feel more safe driving a recalled toyota than a tahoe.
And please, don't go America-bashing too much, because you know...not all of us are total morons, so lighten up and don't be such as ignorant ass-clown.

Oh what a feeling it must be nice to make money on every car you build. You see why GM wants to join Nissan to try and build cars people want. The best Fords wear Mazda badges. Daimler Chrysler better try and do a deal with Honda. In Australia Toyota is king with over 21% of the new car market, if you add commercials it jumps to about 24% while GM aka Holden has 15% Ford has only 12%. Corlla was the top selling car in June/July. The Commodore is second gee they must be hopping the new Ve is a hit. As it comes up against the new Camry in about 3 weeks time. The market has really changed in the last few years this plus the Koreans starting to make cars that people want. It is going to be very intresting time you can't rely on brand loyality anymore people want buy the best cars they can afford no matter who makes them. regards David.

Some of you haters got to check yourself. If you hate this country or you think the people who live in this country are "stupid", then I say get the F_CK out! Why are you here if this is a stupid country? Go back to the shit hole where you crawled out from.
You know what good for Toyota! You make your own bed. I have driven a lot of cars from different makers and I have got to say Toyota is the best value overall

Toyota is the best because they are designed by superior Asian engineers. Just look at the poor design and quality of GM and Ford. These are state of the art American designs. The American products would be OK if Toyota did not exsist. However when you compare them to Toyata products, they suck. These are the best that can be produced by americans which should tell you that GM and Ford are doomed. They are not capable of better. Sad really. But most American industy is in the same condition.

beware Paul, some shark might begin to circle Toyota, according to this French article I spotted, rumors mentionned they study the possibility to drop the Corolla nameplate!

the Civic had really shaked Toyota.
Others factors might play is a) Hyundai, in a more long-term, some folks begin to think why they should paid a premium price for a Camry when they could find a good "bang for the buck" with the Sonata and Azera.
b) quality gap between GM and Toyota is narrowed according to some sources like JD Powers, however the dealer service is like they said in Star Trek, "The final frontier" who can do a lots of difference, is to fix.
c)if Ghosn menaged to create "GMNR" or "FNR" and the operation if succeseful, it will put Toyota in a nervous situation. However if Ghosn's strategy failed, Toyota can rest a bit until they fell Hyundai's winding on their necks.
d) the recent hidden recall in Japan: is it only the tip of the iceberg? If yes, will they fell the punch in the stomach as hard as Mitsubishi?

Poo poo all you want about Toyota's recall problems. They EARNED their reputation through decades of reliability. Just like how GM earned its reputation for low-rent, poorly handling, gas-guzzling, ugly cars through decades of just that.
Today GM's line-up has vastly improved, and Toyota's cars are a far cry from bulletproof. Perception lags reality, but in both cases, the lag is deserved.

I can't believe how many people have been brain-washed by a cookie-cutter designed car company (Toyota). I rent cars 3-4 times a week for the past 10 years and have rented just about every popular new car there is. Last week I rented a Camry. It was the worst riding, noisiest car I've driven lately. No way does it even come close to the ride & performance of a new Impala or even a Taurus. Wake up and smell the coffee.
