Anaheim Mighty Ducks' new home to be the Honda Center
First, Toyota picked up sponsorship of soccer with the Chicago Fire's stadium, renamed Toyota Park. Now, Japanese automakers are making inroads into the world of professional hockey -- Honda has announced it will sponsor the National Hockey League's Anaheim Mighty Ducks' home ice. Currently known as Arrowhead Pond, the venue will be renamed for the first time in 13 years in October, when it will change over to the Honda Center. The deal represents Honda's first naming agreement.

Just to be a little nit picky, "The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim" are now the "Anaheim Ducks" Yeah, it's very trivial.

Yikes. Imagine EVER changing the name of great football/soccer stadiums in Europe. The San Siro in Milan, the Bernabau in Madrid or the Old Trafford in England. Thank god the Europeans don't change them to Telecom Italia Stadium or Tesco Centre.

That name change doesn't bother me so much, but "Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim"?!?! Are you kidding me?!? What is the point of being associated with LA?!? Ha ha, sorry.. I just think that name change is one of the stupidest things I've ever seen.

Corporate sponsorship kind of bugs me, esp when tax dollars are involved in building them. With sponsorship, you end up with stupid names like "HP Pavillion" (home of San Jose Sharks) which also happens to be the name of a sub-par line of computers sold by Hewlett Packard.
Out of the 30 NHL arenas, only 4 are not named by sponsorship.
Joe Louis Arena - Detroit
Madison Square Garden - New York
Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum - New York
Glendale Arena - Arizona

The Houston Rockets already play in the Toyota Center.

I think Staples Center should have been renamed Chick Hearn Center in commemoration of the greatest LA announcer ever. But all he got was a street. People have gotten used to it being named after an office supply chain, but when you think about it, it's incredibly ridiculous. Pretty, though.
What about Qualcomm Stadium? Used to be named Jack Murphy. Seeing how Qualcomm is losing CDMA contracts left and right, they might have to rename it when they go out of business! Soooo off topic.

Sid - Euros may not sell out stadium names, but they sure do on their jerseys. Why do so many uniforms look like a Nascar vehicle.

sports teams are businesses (many sports fan forget this). if some company is going to pay them a wack of money to put their name on the building, they will take it.
