I wish I could say it was worth the 20-minute postponement (some journalists were delayed due to fog at Melbourne airport). But we have seen the car in so many spy shots that it didn’t seem that new, sadly. Still, a better car than what is currently in that segment. Holden should do OK out of it.

The VE commodore didn’t impress me the car looks uglier than the current model especially the front, the front looks like the Aussie Ford Falcon, the back looks like the current VZ bit inflated. I definitely think the Mitsubishi 380 looks much nicer and even the Toyota Aurion will look much nicer.
With nearly 150kg heavier than the previous model it will consume lot more petrol and with price increase of at least $1500 on the base models and $2000 on high end model it will be a bit of a struggle to sell this especially with high petrol prices.

Holden may be taking a big risk with the VE, spending a billion dollars on developing a car that could be heavy on fuel with petrol being so expensive now.
Holdens biggest problem is that most of the design and development was done around three years ago and only six months before release did fuel become so expensive and buyers for the first time actualy care about fuel consumption. This will be one interesting car, espesially if its compatibale with diesel motors,on-demand dicplacement and hybrid technology.
