Rumor: Production possibility for the Lamborghini Miura?

Pistonheads claims that they've been hearing rumors from sources they trust that Lamborghini is planning to greenlight the Miura as a limited-production halo car, a la the Enzo, Carrera GT, SLR, etc.
If the rumor becomes reality, the thought is that Lambo would use the architecture from the forthcoming Audi R8 supercar and power it with a juiced-up version of the 6.2L V12 used in the Murcielago. Speculation sure is fun, isn't it?
It'd be nice to see. The Miura Concept, while not as jaw-droppingly beautiful as the car it pays homage to (very few cars are), is a stunner and an excellent modern interpretation of the classic. It's also probably not unreasonable to think that certain people at Lamborghini are irked knowing that the Audi Brand Group's next biggest attention-grabber is going to be the R8, and not a car wearing the raging bull on its hood.
A limited-run of few hundred world-class Miuras would fix that in a hurry.

The upcoming R8 uses Gallardo architecture...I'm not quite sure this Miura (don't count on the rumor coming true) would borrow parts from the baby Bull.
Think the engine would be transverse-mounted again?

"limited-production halo car" - as opposed to all those other Lambos that everyone seems to have these days. :)

Right, because the reason people don't buy Lamborghinis is because they don't have a halo car that attracts people to dealerships.
What's the weather like in Crazytown?

I hope they have worked on the catching fire thing and the losing control when the gas tank nears empty thing :D
Ha, I love the Miura, and any Lambo. This would definitely be cool

The concept was still a porker compared to the original. If they build a new Miura, it ought to look at least as svelt as the original.

A Miura is not a Miura unless it has a transverse V12 engine.

I find it funny that Lambo would tap Audi who tapped Lambo for the Audi R8 body to use on the Miura :)
Lambo builds Gallardo - Audi uses Gallardo frame to build R8, Lambo uses R8 to build Miura :)
What a tangled web we weave.
