Spy Shots: Aston Martin V8 Roadster

Just in time for summer, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage is shedding its top on test runs throughout Great Britain. Expected to hit the market by the end of the year, the vert sports the same 380-hp V8 mated to a six-speed manual found in the Vantage and, besides the soft top, doesn't differ all that much from the coupe. Word on the street is that the official name of the vehicle will be the Aston Martin V8 Roadster.

Beautiful with the hardtop, more beautiful with no top.

For a roadster, it actually looks incredibly hot.
I love Aston designs.

Yeah, but look at the difficult decisions we're faced with on a daily basis......XKR convertible or Vantage convertible? Aston in red or Jag in black? Jag in red or Aston in black? It just never ends.........

Aston Martin is doing a fantastic job of creating futuristic designs that are still immediately recognizable as Astons. Couldn't they lend some of that talent to Jaguar? Jag needs it.
While they're at it, send over the product planner that approved Aston's six-speed manual, too. Thanks.

PJ,
Jaguar already has the talent--the XJ was penned by Ian Callum, same as all recent Astons. It seems the classic FR proportions are almost identical between the two brands, Aston just got the better details (headlights/taillights/interior). You're right, though, because these same small details demonstrate that Aston has a vision for its future designs, whereas Jaguars are tending to look more Ford-ized every minute.
I'm with you about the 'three pedals' issue. Seems like Ford (PAG) are intent on keeping Jaguar the luxury brand and Aston the high end GT option.
