Bumblebee transforming on the Transformers set

AutoblogSpanish stumbled upon a pic of Bumblebee on the set of the upcoming Transformers movie being directed by Michael Bay. We've seen pics before of the Chevy Camaro Concept wearing a Bumblebee paint job, but this is the first glimpse of the car in partial transformation. While not too much can be gleaned from the shot, like the fact that it's supposed to be based on the Chevy Camaro Concept at all, we do seeing a model of the car's 6.0L V8 being used as the heart of this animatronic monster.

Maybe "Photo of the Robotic Mode of Bumblebee Laying Hungover On a Trailer and Not Really Doing Much at All" would be a more suitable title than the misleading one you're using right now.
But anyway, great pic.

Does anyone other than me die a little inside to not see Bumblebee as a Beetle? I'm no VW fanboy, but that's just wrong.

No. You and the other retards that sent Death threats to Michael Bay are the only ones that have a problem with this shit. He's still cute. He's still Bumblebee. I saw the movie two nights ago at midnight. That qualify me as a geek willing to only get three hours of sleep to go see the premiere. I had no problem with it.

Nope, just you. He looks so much better as an awesome Camero than a junkie hippie POS VW Bug.

Well, no. I don't die inside at all. For the longest time I can remember (all the way back to when I watched Transformers when I was younger), bumblebee has always been my fav. In the movie, I still think he's the wonderful bumblebee that he was when he was a VW. And another thing is the fact that a VW beetle does not appear to be too much of a fighter. In the chase scene between the police car (if I can remember what it was, I think it was a Saleen Mustang), and the Saleen Camaro, it was like....something strong vs. something else strong, where as if bumblebee was kept a VW, it would be like a battle between a yellow Bug and batter ram welding Saleen Mustang. It just doesn't fit.

4. Does anyone other than me die a little inside to not see Bumblebee as a Beetle? I'm no VW fanboy, but that's just wrong.
i completely understand. bumble should be a vw bug but vw does not want to promote anything associated with war, prob ww2 has bittered them.
hey at least mr bay has kept him yellow! with the design of the new figures leaked, im worried that jerry has really screwed up the design of the characters. hence no bulky parts that resemble the vehicle.
come on michael, this guy could be mistaked for a dyson vac cleaner!

This movie will be really good - until you get to anything affected by Michael Bay Syndrome and then the sucking will start.

Doesn't it make more sense for it to be a Charger SRT8 Superbee?
Just sayin'...

VW or not, turning Bumblebee into a Camaro is just totally wrong for his character. The coolest thing about him as a kid, is that he's the youngest, smallest, most naive of the Autobots. He's a VW Bug when most of the other guys were F1 cars, or tricked out Jeeps, or a massive semi-truck. He was Spike's best friend and the audience's connection to the Autobots. I haven't read the script, but i don't see Bumblebee's personality matching to a modern high-tech muscle car. If he turned into another small hatchback like a Mazda3 or Ford Focus i wouldn't have a problem.

He should have been a beetle. Sad, so sad. The change in character makes me not want to see the movie.

That's pretty atrocious. WTF decided that? Is Optimus Prime going to be an Explorer? Maybe Megatron can be a suction-cup gun or something. #10's got a great point--even if it's not a Beetle, at least something comparable. All they had to do was look at a C&D comparo to figure out their other options ... jackasses.

They should've made bumblebee a yellow Mazda3.

Well...I too liked Bumblebee - but everyone has to hit puberty! I Can't think of any better auto to turn him into except maybe a Firebird...All grown up and looking HOT! Now he'll have the "Muscle" he needed! But, I'm just a girl, what do I know!?

I actually don't care. VW Bugs are kinda lame. Camaros, not so much.

Hey #16, nice jab at the Alternators series of Transformers, since Prime is a Dodge Ram...
You know, I figured if anyone would be a big pickup in that series, it would've been Grimlock, in the form of a ram or an F-250.
Still, I wonder if the Alternators line has any effect on the final look of new Autobots/Decepticons. Something to think about.
