Here's a couple more looks at the new Chrysler Sebring from some different angles. Follow the jump for a peek at the new interior, as well.

many of the sides of the Chrysler Sebring (including the inside) is all UGLY. i rather get an 06 PASSAT.

Sales of the current Seebring are horrible, and this looks only to be another flop. Clearly it is Mercedes inspired with HEAVY Toyota on the rear with some BMW 'flame-surfacing' on the side. The nose is Crossfire, and from the side, the back yells Saturn. I think the designers of the first Sebring were cast out and locked into a spare parts room. This is what they came out with.

Like someone took the front end of one car, the middle of another and the back end of a thrid and stapled them together. I like the crossfire hood, but the grill is "snouty". The rear deck seems disproportionate to the rest of the body, and the tailights scream "Corolla".
I like the interior, but it is a little cold.
Ahh Chrysler, your 300c, Crossfire and Magnum just raised my expectations of you, and this car just dashes them.
Whoa, what's the deal with that C pillar? Doesn't flow well at all, despite the cheesy attempt at painting a fake window in behind the abruptly ending real window.

June 22 2006 at 7:28 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyLooks like an old Saturn . Very boring.
June 22 2006 at 5:00 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyImprovement = yes. Remarkable = no. So many new cars come out of the box nearly perfected visually of late - its hard to make an improvement (300C, PT Cruiser etc.) Apparently Chrysler has a plan - start ugly and leave room for refinement and improvement.

Now, as far as the new Sebring...I dont like it at all. I am not at all being bias against any brand, but I expected more out of Chrysler. Being that the 300C totally put them back on the radar, the Sebring should have been designed to give Camry/Accord a run for it. I dont even think this car will compare to the Malibu...Cet! The mid-size sedan market is the market that all auto companys should put their best in.
The design looks so cheap and thrown together. I would have rather had a smaller version of the 300c...
Once again the Camry/Accord/Altima will continue to be the sales leaders...If Hyundai can create a better Sonata, I know that DCX can too.
"On another note, I thought DC was dropping the Sebring name and it was going to be called the Avenger?!"
I believe they are keeping Sebring, and dropping Stratus in favor of Avenger.
I like the car. The sides are a bit busy, but I guess they were hoping to tie the sides into the Crossfire the way the front does. I like the back a lot, same vertical crease as from the Concorde. The scallop under the headlights, the grill, the hood groves (which I'm a fan of) are all Chrysler signature. If you guys think this car rips other cars you haven't been paying attention. It continues Chrysler's own design heritage.
The fact that many of you point to a million different cars proves that you can't figure out which design they 'allegedely' copied. They may have borrowed a detail here or there, but it's basically just an evolotion of existing Chrysler design. I like how the front fascia wraps under the fog-lights, a minor but eye-grabbing detail.
Don't hate, you wear it poorly.
OK, overall, its not bad. Certainly no worse than the new Camry, but it will be immediately forgetable after the 2nd or 3rd one you see on the road.
What I don't understand, is how these designers can drop the ball so much on the deatails. Is all that fussyness aft of the windows at the C-Pillar really the best they could do? A couple of fat plates of black plastic? Take a look at the third photo and see how thick the pillar looks from the inside. When the drivers of these things cut you off from the left, cut them some slack, if your in anything smaller than a Tahoe, he just couldn't see you.
The same goes for those ghastly taillights. Do we really need that much tailight on the side? Did it ever occur to them to line up the reverse and turning lights in some cohesive fashion?
Inside, the nav screen looks too low and too small, and judging from the Caliber and Magnum, I don't hold out too much hope for the plastics.
Again, overall the car isn't terrible, but its very dissappointing. I live in CA. Land of imports. A lot of us haven't givin up on Detroit, though. We keep hoping and keep waiting. I guess we will wait a little longer.
