But I love the BMW tail ends. You know, the ones that look like a Solara rear end with a (awkwardly fitting) Chrysler Cirrus trunk on top. Simply Beautiful. I didn't realize how beautiful that look was because the first few hundred times I saw it, like most people, I was fixated on the BMW logo on the back.

What does confuse me, a little, is why any enthusiast hard-core enough to buy an M model would want a soft-top. The same goes for the M3 convertible--both are significantly less stiff than their coupe counterparts, detracting from ride and handling (at least subjectively, in my experience), and they're higher-priced to boot.

I guess these are the M models for non-enthusiasts who just want to be able to say they bought the most expensive, exclusive 3- or 6-Series on the market. Design-wise, I always thought the previous 8 series was a better looking car - it just never really delivered on performance.

Jason, do you mean "better looking" or "better performing?" cause those are too very different questions. I've never driven this model, but I'd wager it's the best performing convertable BMW has ever built. From the inside out I'm sure it's awsome.
