BMW M6 Cabrio pics leaked

Here are the first official shots of the BMW M6 Cabrio, which apparently have been leaked ahead of the car's official debut if various other websites are to be believed. It's hard not to get excited about a RWD convertible being propelled by one of the most decorated engines in recent memory. We are, of course, speaking of BMW's 500-hp, 5.0L V10 engine. Still, there's not much news to report other than the beheading of this Bavarian super coupe.
Check out more pics after the jump...

It is hard for me to get excited about $100k sports car that looks like a bloated Pontiac G6.

"...looks like a bloated Pontiac G6."
Looks are deceiving.

I highly doubt that anyone would mistake that for a $25,000 Pontiac, on the road.

That butt looks much better on the coupe than cab. Just too much mass hanging over the rear wheels.

At least the G6 convertible is a hardtop.
But I love the BMW tail ends. You know, the ones that look like a Solara rear end with a (awkwardly fitting) Chrysler Cirrus trunk on top. Simply Beautiful. I didn't realize how beautiful that look was because the first few hundred times I saw it, like most people, I was fixated on the BMW logo on the back.
LMAO.

Personally, I think it looks a lot like a Solara drop-top. Not saying I wouldn't take it, but it looks too much like the Solara, which has also been compared to the G6. BMW designs used to stand out more. Other than the grillwork and badging, it's harder to distinguish them from other cars on the road anymore.

fugly, overweighted, over-rated, and overpriced.
That tail makes me want to throw up in my mouth every time I see it.

I'll take TWO Mustang Cobra Convertibles instead, or one, and pay a shop 10k to cover the internor in even nicer leather then the bimmer. Save money and have the added benefit of not looking like a pisher.

Looks nothing like a G6. You need your eyes examined in a very bad way.

It looks more like the last gen Mustang than anything else, but the melty nose and tail are G6 and Solara like. You'd have to pay me to drive a car with a Bangle Butt. (Except I actually kind of like the Z4.)

As far as I can tell, the only thing this has in common with the G6 is that it's a four-place convertible with a (resulting) longish passenger enclosure. Otherwise, I'm not seeing a single shared styling cue.
What does confuse me, a little, is why any enthusiast hard-core enough to buy an M model would want a soft-top. The same goes for the M3 convertible--both are significantly less stiff than their coupe counterparts, detracting from ride and handling (at least subjectively, in my experience), and they're higher-priced to boot.
I guess these are the M models for non-enthusiasts who just want to be able to say they bought the most expensive, exclusive 3- or 6-Series on the market. Funny, because to my eyes, they're also the flashiest and least attractive.

Great, a $100K Camaro convertable for rich guys! :P

There's a reason you never see picures of these with the top up. Ugly top down, enough to frigten small children top up.

Wow. Can we have back the G6 comparison? That comment was brilliant compared to this one.
Even if I had a seizure while looking at the screen and reading the specs of the M6, I could come up with a better comparsion than this ...foaming mouth and bite-stick included.

Looks nice, but they still can't create a hardtop convertable? Softtops look so ugly when you have to put the top up.

Easy there, G. I was referring more to the soul of the car than to the design elements. To me this car is Chris B.'s take on a BMW Camaro. While others may (and do) disagree, I'm not at all a fan of current BMW design - this car included. It was bad enough as a hardtop, this convertible version is worse. Previous generational design screamed "BMW" to me, while the current designed appear to have more in common with the land of the rising sun than from those who celebrate Oktober with such panache.
Design-wise, I always thought the previous 8 series was a better looking car - it just never really delivered on performance.

Please give me the name of a better convertible than this. I thought so...

Jason, do you mean "better looking" or "better performing?" cause those are too very different questions. I've never driven this model, but I'd wager it's the best performing convertable BMW has ever built. From the inside out I'm sure it's awsome.
If, on the other hand, you're talking about looks the list could go on and on.

Looks are purely subjective. It is moronic to argue about them.

BMW MAKES A CREDIBLE CAR WITH SOME GREAT ENGINEERING... WITH MISTAKES COVERED IN BMW'S INCLUDED MAINTENANCE PROGRAM.. THE PROBLEM WITH BMW IS WHEN YOU DON'T LEASE FROM THEM. THE COST IS SO HIGH THAT YOU DON'T SEE MUCH ON THE ROAD OTHER THAN 3 SERIES. THE PROBLEM IS THAT MANY CARS ARE CATCHING ON THE ENGINEERING AND DEFINITELY PACKAGING FEATURES AMERICANS WANT.. WHICH IS AS IMPORTANT AS A SPORTS CARS AT 100k. SO BMW'S CLAIM THAT MAINTENANCE AND RESIDUAL VALUE WILL OUTPACE ANY DIFFERENCE IN QUALITY/PRICE OF COMPETITION ARE ERODING.. IN OTHER WORDS: ENOUGH QUALITY COMPETITORS WHO ARE ENGINEERING BETTER FOR A MUCH REDUCED PRICE WILL INDEED HURT BMW'S SALES. AS FAR AS BMW GOES.. THEY ARE PROPPING UP THIER VALUE WITH THE LEASES, THE WEALTHY THAT BUY THEM AND THE PERCIEVED QUALITY THRU THE MAINENANCE PROGRAM. THE QUESTION IS THIS: WHAT HAPPENS WHEN OTHER PRODUCTS START MAKING MORE SENSE FINANCIALLY. AND WORSE: WHEN OTHER PRODUCTS ENGINEER EQUALLY OR BETTER. IN BMW'S FAVOR IS SOME TIGHT ENGINEERING. IN BMW'S DEFICIT IS EXPENSIVE PACKAGING AND HIGH PRICES THAT ARE INFLATED WITH LEASES. WHO CARES IF THE STYLING IS BLAND INSIDE AND OUT.. IT'S BEING PROPPED UP BY HISTORY AND STRATEGY. THE FACTS BEAR OUT THAT ALL THE LUXURY MAKES OFFER MORE CAR THAN A REGULAR MAKE. THE EVOLUTIONARY DESIGN IDEA DOESN'T DO MUCH TO MAKE IT APPEAR NEW..BUT IT DOES LEND ITSELF TO SAYING OUR DESIGN IS ALWAYS RIGHT. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT.. I HAVE SEEN THE BENEFITS OF THIS WAY OF THINKING. THE BMW DEALER WILL CALL WHEN THE CAR NEEDS MAINTENANCE.. ACCORDING TO DEALERS SCHEDULE. EVER WONDER IF THAT MONEY WOULD BE BETTER SPENT ON AN AMERICAN CAR? FOR A FELLOW AMERICAN? JUST CURIOUS..
