Porsche has just unveiled an appearance package for the Cayenne S dubbed the 'Titanium Edition.' For North American consumption only, the model features various bits of titanium-toned trim, along with many of the most popular options as standard-fit-all at a decidedly unPorsche-like 10 percent off.
Available in two exclusive new colors ('Pure Red and 'Iceland Silver Metallic'), along with black and blue, the new model also receives titanium effect mirrors, front air intakes, door handles, rear roof spoiler, and so on.
Starting at $64,900 for Yankees and $89,800 for Great White Northerners, the model hits showrooms in mid-July, complete with 'smart' xenon headlamps, navigation, and moonroof.

Yes, of course. Americans are the only ones dumb enough to uber pay the Germans for their cars. And for that we get to the honor to pay even more money for one of their vehicles.

If GM could charge Porsche prices for trim packages, its financial problems would be solved. I'm constantly shocked by what Porsche and MB can charge for Sport Packages and the like. $5,000 for larger wheels and a body kit? You can buy over 1/3 of a car for that!

to the posters above: yes, you can buy 1/3 of a car for that, but that isn't the point. german cars are about all out quality in every imaginable way, and most come close enough to perfection. so does the well priced C6 'vette, as well.
Is this ludicrous? Maybe...but it's sexy. The Cayenne is beautiful, athletic, imposing and sexy. What's most shocking is that according to this article, as moonroof is a package deal, a $53,000 dollar Cayenne does indeed NOT have standard moonroof....WOW.

Always cheaper in USA. $65k USD = $75k CDN (at 1.15 exchange). Take higher taxes in Canada, the cost of this Porsche and all other vehicles... USA wins.
For example: Michigan vs Ontario:
MI: $64,900 x 1.06 tax = $ 68,794 USD
ON: $89,800 x 1.15 tax = $103,270 CDN = $89,800 USD
Difference = $21,000 USD.
Let's not get into the cost of ownership. Gasoline is always higher here in Canada. So this $21k USD difference will further swell over the life of the vehicle.
Perhaps I should move to United States? Nah... I'll stick around here in Toronto a little while longer.

wait a minute...
This option package takes 10% of the price?

The whole point of pricing a Porsche or Mercedes so high is to keep the riff raff from owning one. Of course it's expensive....that's the point. If money is a concern...then you don't go to a Porsce dealership.
