There's a new set of spy shots of BMW's next X5, due out later this year. Taller, wider and longer, the new X5 gets the must-have third row seating feature to compete with its upmarket SUV/CUV brethren, but carries forward most of the major exterior styling features of the previous models. The full set of spy shots can be viewed at wheels24.co.za here. For comparison purposes, we've included a similar view of the current X5 after the jump. Note the stretched C-pillar - part of the modifications to accomodate the extra row of seats.

Is it just me, or do these photos look like they have partially computer-generated images? The rear bumper is messed up and blurred, and the front fender area looks touched up. The car in this picture is the same prototype that was displayed last month on another website. I don't believe it is a true representation of what will be sold. I'm waiting to see the real thing displayed on the BMW website before making any judgments. Anyway, I'm a major BMW fan and will probably buy it anyway because I already have an X5 and I really need the third row.

It look like just a restyling of the old one. Much better the Audi Q7. But is just my opinion.

BMW has nothing original, always trying to be like somebody. A Luxury car maker who wants to sell to the masses lol.

      Blah!

I'm a BMW fan, but their only vehicle I like less then the X5 is the X3. If you're considering this please take a look at a 5-series wagon or if you must one of Mazda's new CUVs. This thing is as silly as Porsche making an SUV.

At least it does not look like a Mitsubishi which has been the case with BMW's recent styling direction. Somebody pleae take Chris Bangles pencil away from him.

#3, because only a below-average sized family can fit in the 3rd row.

Man, all these BMW haters out there! This is still a test car...one that I like very much. Much better looking than the Mini-van, argh SUV that Lexus and Mercd produce.

Sometimes doesn't seem to matter what test mule is shown of any car, everyone hates it!
