Spy Shot: 2008 Chrysler Town and Country interior
This shot of the 2008 Chrysler Town and Country's interior shows a marked departure from the current model's dash. As Straighline points out, notice the dash-mounted shifter between the gauge pod and center console, the new stereo head unit and upright, van-like seating. Though the source-site claims it's "typical minivan stuff" we'd argue the center console that resembles the sheer face of a cliff is a pretty bold interior styling statement. Those cutouts for the airvents suggest an air conditioning system powerful enough to offset global warning, and does that red button on the dash activate Chrysler's new rear-passenger ejector seats? Sweet. [Source: Straightline]

My 2008 Town and Country cd player does not work properly. Nor does the blue tooth phone connection. I have lost use of the car for 8 days while they try to fix it. Anyone else having radio problems? I would like to know about it.

The big red button is the N2O setup for the SRT version ;)

It's the transmission self-destruct button. No need to wait 'til 50,000 miles anymore.

Well it can't really be worse than the previous layout.
Seriously, what was with the layout for controlling the cabin lights...it was some crazyness.

The red button is for the engineers. When a problem happens with the engine, etc, they hit the button for the computer to take note of the problem....I believe that is what it is.

Wonder if they'll make an auto pushbutton an option?
Works good on my 63' 300

The red button if for puffing out the blue smoke screen. Also occurs when taking off from a red light.

I think most of you know what the big red button is for, but since it's not clear that you all do, the button is a kill switch. It cuts off the vehicle power/engine/etc. when something goes wrong. It's standard operating procedure for all OEMS to include one of these buttons on prototype vehicles.

lol Hung2. That's why Chrysler always has the number 1 selling minivan, they just hit the Easy Button.

If the shifter's not going to be in the floor console, why not just mount it on the steering column like they used to. All these vehicles with shifters sprouting from the dashboard look dumb to me. If it's going to be dash-mounted, go back in Chrysler history and make it push-button.

I admit that the shifter is oddly positioned... other than that it'S a rather nice upgrade..looks spacious..as opposed to the current model where the driver feels suffocated by everything that surround him.

I guess I'm the only person that cares...but look at the radio, it actually has two round knobs, just like radios used to. Is it too much to hope that one is for tuning the radio and the other is a volume control?
I agree that Chrysler should consider pushbutton shifting. But I hope they come up with a better system than my aunt's '64 Plymouth Belvedere had. There was no park, per say, instead it had a small sort of lever that was pushed one way for nuetral + parking brake and to someone just learning to drive it was very confusing.

Re bringing back pushbuttons: our betters in Washington took those away. Seems the GSA came up with some whack standard about the shifter having to travel through neutral from reverse to drive, or from drive to reverse. Seems there was concern about pushing reverse while moving forward or some damn thing. Chrysler accounted for that, but the GSA said NO anyway.
As for the shifter coming out of the dash, I remember how orgasmic the Toyota fans got when they saw the Prius. My thought was: "Gee, just like Dad's 55 DeSoto".

Uhh, Howard? Unless her car had the really BEEFED Torqueflites used in highway patrol and other severe service cars, it had Park. You'd slide the lever, the Neutral button would go in, and the park pawl would engage at the same time.
