Galpin Auto Sports joins new Pimp My Ride on MTV

West Coast Customs is out and Galpin Auto Sports is in on MTV's new season of the Xzibit-driven car makeover show Pimp My Ride. Galpin is well known for customizing all manner of Ford product for decades and has a rich history as one of the Blue Oval's most colorful dealerships. In addition to the design talents provided by Galpin's own Beau Boeckmann, the new season of Pimp My Ride will also feature a familiar face in Mad Mike, who used to work for West Coast Customs and host the show shotgun style with Xzibit. Check out this page for some examples of Galpin's past work (like the above "deceased" themed F-150) before the new season airs on June 15th.

Hi. I was out shopping yesterday and came across a shrouded Ford F350 (I think)at the local grocery store. I posted the story of seeing it on my blog, and one of my commenters suggested I alert Autoblog about it. I included the permalink from my story in the above URL field. There are three pictures that go with the story.
I would also like to mention that this truck was a gasoline engine, not a diesel. Boy, was that engineer driver mad at me for taking photos of him in this truck. Go take a look! I apologize if I did not post this link in the correct area of Autoblog, I've never done this before.

Hi. I was out shopping yesterday and spotted a shrouded Ford F350 crew cab, at the local grocery store. I posted a story with three pictures on my blog, and one of my commenters suggested I alert Autoblog about the story. Boy, was that engineer driver mad at me for taking his photo! Go to my site and enjoy the story. I wonder if all auto engineers are as crabby as this guy!
I apologize if I put this link in the wrong stop on Autoblog, I have never done this before.

Good to see it.
Not that i really care much about Pimp My Ride, but the designs of these guys seem much more artistic and visionary that the douchebags at west coast. Also, might engine mods become a part of the transformation as well?

The thing I didnt like about Pimp My Ride is that they loaded all those cars up with crap (if they put stuff like that in mine, it would have been ripped out later) but they rarely did any engine or suspension work to the cars.
West Coast is just tacky when it comes to customizing cars. I will admit they have had some nice cars but the majority of them were too flashy.
Galpin seems to be a little more edgy and modern. Hopefully, they dont do a tacky job like West Coast. And for the love of God, do some engine and suspension mods...

I could probably stomach this show if it wasn't for Xzibit. I'd have loved to see an Ep where the owner took one look at their new ride and said something to the effect of "What the fuck did you do to it?"
From what I'd heard, WCC left the show because MTV wanted all the tacky shit put in the cars and they just didn't like it.

actually they worked on the whole car, yes even engine and suspension. but since its on mtvand not spike, no one really would care bout what internal mods they did on the engine or what perforcmance upgrade they did!! it was all about flash!!( stupid mtv, ruined a good show!)

Yeah actually i remember reading somewhere (or one of the WCC guys stated) most of the work was requested from MTV themselves, since MTV was paying for the mods. So WCC only WORKED on the cars, they didnt choose anything themselves.
So it was MTV's fault for not requesting actual engine work and what not. Otherwise WCC is actually a pretty decent customizing joint.

They actually did do some engine and mechanicals work on teh cars. They had to. Most of these cars could barely run.
Secondly, Ryan, WCC owner, stated that he disliked the way the show was going. MTV kept requesting crazy stuff. And they paid them the same amount per show, so they had to fit this crazy stuff in on the same budget. That is why they left. They felt their reputation was being ruined by the show. Look for a different WCC on TLC or Discovery Channels soon. That is the rumor anyway. They have already given a hand to the Overhaulin' crew on a couple of builds.

The show really went downhill when "Q" decided not to do the show and you could tell Ryan Haus was not comftorable leading the discussion. You can tell he didn't like many of the things bein' put in the cars. The best part about the new season is that Mad Mike is at Galpin Auto Sport now. Good luck, GAS, good luck "X" and good luck, Pimp My Ride

I saw that Cabe Sipes is on the cast now. I can't wait to see what he does to the cars. For any of you that don't know, Cabe is ranked as one of the top fabricators in the country for car audio. I met him at Knowledgefest in Kentucky when he was doing hands on trainings.
It's exciting because thats like calling in Jesse James to weld. From what I heard though, we won't see any of Cabe's work until mid-season because he was doing another tv show when they started filming Pimp My Ride.
Anyway, if he does half of the work I've seen him do this season will be pretty cool.
