2007 Land Rover LR2/Freelander brochure leaked - UPDATE

We missed the debut of Land Rover's replacement for the aging Freelander to be dubbed the LR2 in Detroit. We figured it would pop up eventually at the British Motor Show in July, Paris Motor Show at the end of September or the newly rescheduled L.A. even later. But it seems the upscale mini-ute is ready for its close up as these leaked brochure pages suggest. We can't glean any details from the images as the resolution is a bit too low for the text to be read. LR3-inspired styling, a more upmarket interior and a pair of moonroofs looks like a good place for the new LR2 to pick up where its underachieving predecessor left off.

How is this different from the first generation. It looks more like a face lift. Is this being dubbed a redesign?

#2 If you looked at the Freelander every day it would be very easy to spot the differences. And believe me, any change would be a good thing.
It looks as if it has the same steering wheel as the LR3, a terrain response knob (does that mean it has air suspension now?), it finally video navigation (the becker nav sucked), perhaps surround sound with the speaker in the d pillar, and a tailgate that doesnt roll the window down every time the battery goes flat.
I hope this one can take a bluetooth phone inside it without the entertainment system crashing.

Its a FACE-LIFT. Not a redesign.
Face-Lift:
1. Adds new front and rear ends.
2. Re-do the inerior (as in "new" explorer)
= New model good for another 5 years.

This...refresh? redesign? brings the Freelander/LR2 more into line with the rest of the Land Rover line. The old model had black bumpers which while sort of old fashioned, were probably a bit more damage-resistant. The area most in need of an upgrade is the interior and with these pix it's hard to tell if there has been much improvement. It looks like the HVAC controls are WAY down on the console, are they too much of a stretch? If the old model had nav. it appears to be better integrated on this model. I wonder what changes are under the hood (oops, the British call it the bonnet).

Good lord, no it's not a facelift. It uses a totally new platform that has nothing to do with the old one. It has a bunch more space than the poorly designed previous model and will use a modern motor instead of the crappy old low power Rover unit.
It is a complete wheels-up redesign different in every way.

If it were a true redesign. The current comments thread would read more like "it looks like a cross betweeen an explorer and a monkey"....

I've been desiring an LR3 since it was introduced in it's current form, although the LR2 will be much more monetarily obtainable, there's nothing drawing me to it.

This is a re-design. You can't add Terrain Response, a new engine, chassis, electronics, re-design the exterior and interior and call it a face lift.

Very cool. Looks nice and hopefully will not carryover any past issues.

Probably the car is re designed, but the LAND ROVER as a company with no back up and bad reputation in the market, remains the same (After sales Support). Once again with Land Rover? NO, Thanks.
