Corsa VXR already being readied by Vauxhall
GM Europe just took the wraps off its new Corsa three-door hatchback and already the Euro auto scene has been flooded with spy shots of a VXR model being tested under the guise of creative camouflaging. Speculation on how much power the Corsa VXR's turbocharged 1.6L will produce range from 160 bhp to 200 bhp. We're leaning towards the latter figure, as it would put the Corsa ahead of the Renaultsport Clio, if only by a few ponies. 0-60 is said to pass in about six seconds and it will top out on the Autobahn at around 150 mph. Along with a more suitable sports suspension and bigger brakes, the Corsa VXR will don business attire better able to express its intentions that includes flared arches, bigger air intakes and larger wheels. It would be great to have little pocket rockets like this back. Remember the Suzuki Swift GTI, the Dodge Colt GT turbo, Toyota FX16, Escort GT??
The FWD sport coupe market is just about dead anyway, and these would be cheaper...

Speculation?
According to AutoExpress, the horsepower figure was thought to be 170hp, but Vauxhall has all but decided to top the VXR out at 200hp. Let's hope this is a HEAVILY disguised picture, as it looks almost like a mini SUV with it's jacked-up looking wheel arch to tire spacing.

200 horsepower, light weight, probable mileage in the thirties, and a price tag of 16,000 pounds? Not bad.
Vehicle prices in the U.K. (in pounds) are often similar to the same vehicles' prices in USD in the North American market. Any interest in badging this thing as a Metro SS, Chevy?
Just kidding. I do wish, though, that the NA market had more interest in small, resource-saving hot hatches like this.
