As we reported earlier, Volkswagen is rushing the sixth generation Golf (now the Rabbit again in U.S. and Canada) to market two years ahead of schedule because of the current fifth generation's poor performance in the marketplace. VW's main task for the 2008 Golf Mk VI is to build it cheaper, faster and better than the Mk V. While not an all-new vehicle, the Mk VI will feature a substantially updated exterior with design cues pulled from around the VW garage, including taillamps that mimic those from the Concept A and rear fenders with blister outward a la the Eos hardtop convertible. With this new Golf will come new variants, including a new Jetta although we'll likely see that car get a mild refresh before it transitions to the Mk VI.

That was a fast update. Looks downright Audi-ish.

Ok so it looks like an A3, but its looks like an aggressive A3, just the style tweak the current A3 needs. It looks fantastic,so ur not on your own Jason.

      That thing looks pissed...

Well, I would be too if I were that ugly

If they want it to sell like the MkI and MkII did they need to axe the weight and cut the price in half.

Looks alot like the scirocco concept they are thinking of doing.
I really think the brand idenity thing that they are doing is awful. You cann't tell a GTi from a Jetta, from a Passat at the front. The whole front grille is ugly as sin. I have for years and currently do own VW's, but not after the 4th generation. I think the new Altima coupe may be in the works.

I like it. I don't know where I read it (maybe here in fact), but the reason they hurry to replace the current model is due to its very high production costs compared to the competition, not especially for its poor sales, although a new model won't hurt...

I kind of like it. Maybe I'm just strange (no comments please). It IS very Audi'ish though. Not a bad thing at all. Just an observation.

The front kinda looks like Mr. Bill from SNL. Anybody remember that?

I like it, in a weird, quirky way...it actually sorta reminds me of a rabbit.

But I do prefer the "old" VW - the previous generation of Jetta, Passat, and Golf looked so much better.

      But oh well.
