Knight Rider to hit the silver screen

Pull out your acid wash jeans and perm that hair, boys and girls, the '80s are back in action. Reuters reports that a celluloid version of Knight Rider will begin production next year, brought to you by Weinstein Co. and original series creator/writer Glen Larson. Nevermind the fact that there's no actor in place to play the role of Michael Knight (What, David Hasselhoff's too old? Never!) or speak the role of K.I.T.T. (formerly dubbed by William Daniels, Mr. Feeny from Boy Meets World). But that's the least of the creators' worries -- where's a 2007 Pontiac Firebird when you need one? Oh wait, here's one.

If they use the new GM Camaro/Firebird concept, it better be black on black with the tan interior, just like the original KITT. And the red scanner needs to be there too.

Do you think the new movie will make KITT a homosexual, like the old show did? .

David Hasselhoff is too old? He doesn't look it in this wonderful video. ;-)

Remember Evil Michael Knight and Goliath!! Classic...

This is probobly one of the few movies of all time that the selection of car is just as, if not more important than any given actor. I have a feeling that a mustang or a new challenger might show up instead of a cooked up firebird.
Presto @ May 9th 2006 5:38PM
Hopefully the new KITT is a 1999 Dodge Stratus.

Speaking for all fair-minded progressives let's just hope that the new "KITT" is a plug-in hybrid flexfuel bio-diesal Prius that runs on the bodyfat of dead Republicans. If not, I'll boycott the movie.

NOOOOO!!!
Not the Flaming Chicken!!!

It has to be the bugatti veyron.
Remember the 'super persuit mode' the bugatti's got that.
Remeber the episode when KITT beat an airplane (little cessna dealie), bugatti can do that (assuming it packs a 55galllon oil tank as the passenger)

Someone get Burt Reynolds out of cold storage! "Smokey and the Bandit 4" HAS to be just around the corner!
James Fabin @ May 9th 2006 6:34PM
I can't wait!!! I loved watching Knight Rider & Airwolf. Maybe if I start hitting the gym and get out my old black leather jacket I could play Michael in the movie.

Burt Reynolds is not in cold storage! Why you ask? Because everyone knows PLASTIC becomes brittle when it is cold and we wouldn't want Burt's nose, ears, chin, or whatever else to shatter when touched!!!

Have people already forgotten the two Knight Rider movies that already came out? :)

Hey Erin, thanks for linking.

The Pontiac emblem's off-center. Nice try, though.

This is old, old news.

Did anyone see the episode where Chuck Norris beat KITT in the 1/4 mile?
Poe @ May 9th 2006 9:40PM
Wow... Hollywood really has run out of new ideas.
Stoneman @ May 9th 2006 11:01PM
You guys are frickin' obsessed with Knight Rider.

They can use Busta Rhymes' "Fire It Up" as an updated version of the theme song.
Anyone remember Team Knight Rider? I can only recall a Viper as one, and cant remember the other vehicles.
