As another sign of just how different the wealthy live, Autoblog sibling Luxist posted a report from Guardian Unlimited about Paul Dalton and his car wash service, Miracle Detail.
Dalton, according to the news source, charges over a staggering $9,000 for his top-of-the line Pinnacle car wash. The near two-week, 52-step program includes citrus degreasing, filtered water, and many sponges and buckets. The car wax alone, at $13,000 a tube, costs more than the service itself. Dalton, however, points out that the service protects the car for a year.

(Hats off to Dhiram and Noah!)

At least the dudes that buy those giant shiny (spinning) wheels that cost more than their car have something to show for it. For $9000, all you have is a clean car.

Anyone who waxes their everyday car for just once a year and expects the wax to last more than a month is a complete idiot.

On a garaged, weekender Lambo, however, it's likely. But then again, so would doing it yourself with Griot's Best of Show Wax for $20 and a couple hours of wax on/wax off.

Yeah, and with my luck as I drove off it would begin to rain then a flock of gulls would fly over. I don't think I should have my car washed for about 9 times its value.

Hey, anyone who is stupid enough to waste that kind of money deserves to be ripped off. If you have that kind of change to spare then something is wrong with their priorities. But hey, one day they will face reality and realize one day they are the one in the run down shack with no food, begging for someone with even 20 dollars to help feed them. so I guess what I'm trying to say is, you have every right to charde that much, anyone has the right to refuse. Seems to me, the people purchasing this wash are ripping themselves off.

I would expect alot more than a meer soap and wash. I would expect an interior clean up, an undercar clean, tire gloss, engine wash, and a oil and fluid check and top off.

Do they give a rain guarantee, like doing it over if it rains that day?
