Lets see 10 mile bike ride to work means instead of waking up at 6 am, i wake up at 4 am, so i can shower, bike, and then shower to be at work on time. Hmmm I wonder how early my dad will have to get up to make his 40 mile one way commute to work.

Your FOS, People are not to forced to buy a video game with XX profit margin but they sure are F'd over in buying gas.
Gas is a byproduct of oil, its a freebie and then some crap is added in ( ooh wait 11 million illegals are hand mixing it).
5 billion bucks a month profit just in the sale of gas to what about 50 million cars in this country is one hugh F'ing profit margin for doing nothing but screwing camels to get them to raise crude prices so the oil vendors can have an excuse to make that much profit a month only says they get away with it not because how we drive but who they are blowing in the whitehouse.

It figures a stockholder would come up with a lame excuse as to the profit you make sitting on your ass playing the stock market and what a SUV eats in gas is still nowhere what cars back in the 1970s getting less then 10 MPG and gas then was like 30 cents a gallon !

Why not explain to all of us why over in S.A they all drive SUVs and they just cut the price of gas by 25 % to around 60 cents a gallon !

And, while it's equally true that SUVs can't possibly account for a 50% increase in profits, consumers are definitely to blame for their driving and car buying practices. It's a simple matter of economics--supply and demand.

The reason it seems this way is because American cities have developed since World War II with the underlying assumption that gas is cheap and supply is limitless. This led to sprawl and people working and shopping far from their suburban enclaves. It's a choice that consumers have made over a long period of time - no one is "forced" to do anything.

It's been 60 years since the end of WWII, so it might be a while until we develop viable alternatives. Yes, not everyone can ride a bike to work - if they live in a suburb 30 miles from the office.
