'07 Silverado interior snapped

Though GM’s clever staff tried to throw all of us off their trail by covering the emblem on this truck’s steering wheel with black tape, we’re still certain beyond a shadow of a doubt that this is the interior of the 2007 Chevy Silverado. GM Inside News has posted the picture, which shows a much higher-grade interior in the next GMT-900 pickup than the GMT-800 that came before it. Note the now ubiquitous HVAC control knobs that have shown up on everything from the Buick Lucerne to the Euro-only Cadillac BLS. The General must’ve got a great deal on those knobs.

First of all, this interior is better than the one it replaces. Second, I have as of yet to see a full size truck interior that doesn't make me wince in horror. The segment is about form following function, and not one truck maker has managed to mess that up yet. Whereas the Tahoe disappoints at it's upper price points, these trucks are built for work, so how can anyone be disappointed. If you're looking for a car's interior, and you're driving a truck, I'm sorry to say you've just got piss poor judgement when it comes to vehicles.

Not that I'm brand loyal to anyone (But I drive Fords mainly because of A plan, ford employee), A lot of people are bashing the new interior, which we all have an opinion on. But my god, to say that the new '07 Tundra interior is far superior to this...well, please put the crack pipe down. Look at that dull, ugly thick silver plastic trim covering the gauges. This interior I.M.O., the chrome bezels around the gauges are much nicer. And in the Toyota, they have that high gloss black plastic on the center stack. Now I was looking at a Toyota Sienna this past week which had the same black trim on the stack, it shows every fingerprint, smudge..you name it. And YES, I like Toyota and I think they build a very good product. Just from this photo, this interior looks better than the Titan, which I think has a very cheap looking plasticky interior. The new Dodge Ram with the ugliest, most god awful wood plastic trim I've ever seen. I don't know what kind of wood it is supposed to resemble. If you can't do a good wood applique that looks nice, stick with something else.

We should thank him for that, when in the hell did we lose our drive to be the best in everything? Don't piss and moan about him, when it should be motivation for the USA to once again be the best in everything we do. Be a thinker, not a whiner. Remember 2nd place is the 1ST loser.

Go ahead and say this is best, but that will not stop the above comments from coming in.

Silly guy, those are TOTALLY different, I mean one is a GMC and one is a Chevy nobody would ever make the same truck within the same company, right?

#19- I agree with you completely- great response! People need to understand that Chevrolet puts function over form most all of the time. Being a loyal Chevrolet fan I like the interior and would love to see the rest of the '07 Silverdo (not enough spy shots yet). The new interior is attractive, well-designed and much more polished and appealing-looking compared to the previous Silverado interior. I'll admit that competitors do have more attractive interiors with better grades of materials, but Chevrolet trucks tend to be cheaper than comeptitors (at least to start), so people are going to get what they're paying for. Regardless of the American-built vehicles haters all over Autoblog have to say, I love Chevrolet vehicles and I'm not ashamed to say so.

I think the interior looks good. It doesnt look as good as the Ford F150 but i think it looks WAY better than the current model and WAY better than the "redesigned" Dodge interior. Proud Japanese go find your self another website becuase you are a compete moron. Nobody wants to hear your negative American vehicle comments so you can go comment on your piece of shit Japanese vehicles. I think once Ford and GM learn how to bulid quality CARS they will surpass Toyota (assuming they can keep their truck quality up) and Honda. Americans will buy American vehicles if they are given the right opprotunity.

I just showed this picture to my neighbor who is an quality control engineer at GM and he comfirmed that this is indeed the new interior for the '07 Silverado. Some of the bloggers on the GM Inside News site were saying this is just a test mule interior and it wasn't the final design. Well you're wrong and this it. He said the higher end models like the LTZ will have the faux wood trim just like the Tahoe and anything under that will look pretty much like this. Certainly does not beat the F-150's mark for interiors which GM trumpeted about for the past two years. I also asked my neighbor about the exterior and he said he was dissapointed because it borrowed alot from the Cheyenne concept which according to him people loved it or hated it. He hated by the way!

So true about Proud/Arrogant Japanese.

BTW, does he realize exactly how pathetic Japanese cars were when they came to America: they were utterly laughable! I will give them credit that they are quick learners while the Americans became complacent. But, Proud Japanese, the Japanese learned good interiors from Americans.
