Gas map shows shades of rising prices
Found this map via a link
at Digg.com that shows gas prices around the country by county. The map is color coded with the lowest prices glowing
green in the states of Idaho, Wyoming, Utah and Montana. The color red indicates the counties in which the price of gas
is on fire. California is not surprisingly burning up. Santa Barbara seems to have the highest cost per gallon of
gasoline at $3.20/per, although reports have pegged a gallon or two above $4 in Hollywood.[Source: GasBuddy via Digg]

Must to tough to sell gas if you're a CA station near the border.

Michael,
You'd spend any savings idling while waiting to get back across the border :).

Doesn't look like these prices will be going down anytime soon. I saw a recent show, i beleive it was "60 minutes" or somethin like that, and they were saying that now that gas companies are using ethanol for cleaner burning purposes, there is a higher demand for crops to make the product. So dont expect these prices to go down anytime soon. I think I paid around $3.17 for gas in the Southern California area. It's ridiculous.

The green states are cheap because of proximity to Alberta?

I wonder what the Founding Fathers would have done if the price of oats, for their horses, had shot up like our gas prices?

What's interesting is that gas in CA. is so expensive, yet they have wells and refineries in state. You would think that with the addition of transportation costs that a state like Utah would be as high or higher than CA. Guess they use very expensive additives for CA. gas that they don't use in Utah?

-Exactly, I live in Las Vegas and there is only one (1) pipeline into Vegas and it comes from SO CAL, but yet our prices today are still $2.85/gal, so I'm confused.

I paid $3.09 at a cheap station in Reno for 87 octane. Will be interesting to see what happens.

Not sure about this...but lower gas prices in Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana could be due to lower state fuel taxes.
I grew up in Iowa, and I remember when gas in South Dakota was 69 cents a gallon instead of 89 just because SD had no taxes.

I live in CA and this is such bull*$*! but you gotta love those politicians- "We need to investigate if there's price gouging going on". NEWS FLASH!! WTF!!
In the meantime -the oil companies who report RECORD PROFITS!!!
Last Monday - I filled up at $3.06 for midgrade. Wednesay I topped off my 1/2 filled at $3.13 and by Friday it was $3.19. And it keeps going up......

What I don't understand is the price difference between Omaha and Council Bluffs, IA, just across the Missouri River.
I just paid $2.79 for regular in C.B. vs. $2.99 on my side of the river.
The Iowa tax is $.05 less.
No one has ever attempted to explain the other $.15/gal difference.

I dont get it... How come you've got it so cheap? In my part of Canada anyways gas today is $1.21 per liter, which comes to about $4.57 per gallon.

When I bought gas last week, the price FOR ME was $8.76 per gallon. Other people were paying only $3.06 at the same gas station at the same time. The station manager said that was because the gas pump simply didn't like me.
Now what?
