BMW 3-Series Coupe: official shots?

Blogger Josh Murphy posted three pics of what appear to be the first official shots of BMW’s 3-Series Coupe. Murphy claims a friend of his at a magazine sent the pics to him, which that friend will likely think twice about doing from now on. We’ve seen a ridiculous number of spy shots and renderings of the 3-Series Coupe, so pardon us if we don’t sound more excited about the official snaps finally surfacing. We will say that the two-door looks as streamlined as the spy pics have hinted, especially the heavily tapered rear end.

The side-profile looks like a cross between a DB9 and an Accord coupe. But I do like it. Look forward to a test-drive.

It's ugly, and out of proportion.

Well, I think it is the best coupe from BMW as of now.

I quite like the proportion. Instead of being stubby, they lengthened the profile which made the coupe more svelte - which coupes really should be. Not that there's anything wrong with the shorter Bimmer coupes of old - there most certainly isn't - but this is a nice change.

This new Bimmer is in proportion. They lengthened the car's profile which makes it look more svelte - and coupes should look svelte. Not that there's anything wrong with sporty, shorter profiles of old 3-series two-doors; there isn't. It's just a nice change.

As sexy as a Accord Coupe. Which is not very. And about as rare on the roads. Which is not at all.
I'll take the G35 Coupe, thanks.

What is all this talk about the Accord Coupe - I don't see a single shared design element other than the fact that there are two doors. Someone has some high quality airplane glue.

I have been a diehard Bimmer fan for most of my adult life. My first fun car was a 1972 2002 (in Inka, for those who know the color) that I bought brand new while I was in the Air Force. I've a owned "a few" since then -- all 3-series.
But jiminy, one look at this car in profile and all I can think is how much it looks like an Accord/Camry/Sonata from a distance, especially the rear quarter.
I'm sure they'll sell all they make (they always do), but there won't be one in my garage.

Real clean design, I love it.
The only problem for BMW is...I also love the GTO and it doesn't sell!

Wow, I'm not seeing the similarity to the Accord or Camry coupe. I think it looks awesome although after having had a BMW I doubt I'd buy another one. Too many qualoity/cost issues for me. Is comparing a car to an Accord or Camry the new universal slam to say a car is boring and soulless?

i'm sorry, but it is completely out of proportion. Like all current generation BMWs. The light clusters up front are tiny, and the extended greenhouse just accentuate that. The rear end is bland, the wheels too small.... and I could go on.

Actually kinda reminds me of a boat looking at it....and being next to the water in the picture doesn't help. For some reason the rear 1/4 really bothers me, like it doesn't go with the rest of the car. Looks like the back end extends too far past the rear wheels. I actually think it would look better with more front bumper in the front of the front wheels and less behind the rear. Which is odd, I normally love small overhangs...but this car just doesn't look right.
It's a shame, I think the only new BMW that I like now is the 6 series...I used to love the entire lineup.

F-Ugly, like the rest of the hideous 3 series, which is a shame as it is a great vehicle.

A Honda Accord Coupe????? Are you stupid? or just blind?? what is your excuse for that. The side profile looks like nothing else except for a BMW. I can definetely see some 6- series in it, but never have I pulled up to an Accord and said, wow, that looks like a BMW 6.

Lexus needs to get to work on an IS 350 coupe. I think they've copied the 3 series sedan as much as possible. They should branch out into a new model range, and this coupe looks primed and ready to be copied.

I am sorry but that looks really bad, I was hoping that BMW would make it look as nice as the current coupe. It looks extememly long, actually much longer than the sedan.

ew oh god my eyes! jeez! what the hell happened? is anybody else out there with me when i say that i thought the recent spy pics of the 3 in the airport looked fantastic, but that this looks like horrid, horrid arse? i mean oh my god! what happened?? they're clearly the same car... could it be that perspective really makes *that* much of a difference?? in that case, maybe i'll love it in person... but for now... i'd rather pour salt on my eyes than look at this...

There no Accord in there at all. The rear is clearly from a Mazda Millenia.
