New York Auto Show: Mitsubishi EVO X North American introduction
You asked for it, and we're doing our best to listen. Chief on our readership's list was more shots of the Mitsubishi Evo X, which marked its North American debut with its New York appearance.
This red-hot number impresses in person not with its beauty, but with its intimidating nose and massively wide stance. We're happy to report that the showcar's interior is every bit as merciless-looking as the exterior, with metal fittings, racing seats and harnesses, and a dashboard clearly geared toward high-speed driving. The interior's high metal parts count and expensive materials bear out that this is definitely a show piece, but marque devotees can hope for accomodations heavily influenced by this showstopper.
Although no more information was forthcoming, we took a bevy of snapshots in and out for rally fans to drool over, including a couple of high-resolution images. Check them out after the jump!

A friend of mine told me Mitsu screwed up the introduction by playing the wrong music track. They were supposed to play some thrashing metal band, but when the car was unveiled, someone had in that James Blunt song...'Your Beautiful' or something. This angry EVO rolled out and to 'Your Beautiful'. Now that's funny!

No, not an auto, clutchless manual with paddle shifters.
Still can't wait for the real thing, though that grey grill would look better in black, I think.

So...is this thing even related to the Lancer anymore? Or are they just opposite cousins who see each other at Thanksgiving and glare at each other the whole time?

WOW!! this car is awesome looking i hope they don't raise the price too much over the current model. I'll take mine in black and don't put a giant wing on it either.

That is one ugly car. Looks like part of the front fell off.

Check out inside line at Edmunds, they got to drive a EVO X test mule in EVO VIII clothing that defines the drivetrain changes.
I've also heard reports that the engine will be based off of the new joint venture with DCX and Hyundai, the same 2.4l engine in the SRT-4 Caliber should be a good indication where Mitsubishi will be building from.
I love the design and as a prior owner to an EVO VIII it doesn't matter what an EVO looks like, cause once you drive one hard, you'll love it no matter what.

To #11:
You mean "everyone that doesn't know how to drive correctly and use their left foot for the brake pedal could drive it." right?

^ Everyone can drive regular manuals too if you've got 2 feet. I find it unfortunate that one of the most frequent comments i've heard about Audi's DSG tranny is "Now my wife can drive it too!"..... duh, your wife can drive a stick shift if she's not dumb and lazy. if she is dumb and lazy, you shouldn't have married her.

"4. Wow! That thing has more plastic on the front than a Pontiac..."
It's called carbon fiber, do you know it?
Anyway, is that an auto trans? I still can't believe it.

i dont like this vrey much yes it is a nice design but it has drifted to far from what the evo should look like if yougo back you can see a resimblance in the evo 5 6 7 8 9 you can tell that they are all related to each other but this is totally different its a new car. and thepaddle shifters its an ok idea but i perfer stick. and the front isnt carbon fiber it is plastic. also the inside is wack wtf where is everything i cant bare the inside
