Jeep's official unearthing of the 2007 Wrangler Unlimited left us wondering how long one needs to bury a standard two-door Wrangler before it up and sprouts a second set of doors. Alas, that question went unanswered. What was made clear is that a high-pressure fire hose is an effective means of extracting a buried SUV, and that if Jeep's PR folks are handing out plastic ponchos, it's wise to accept one.
While we thought that the full doors (shown in Jeep's official press release) appear a bit awkward when the top is removed, the half doors (shown in pics after the jump) definitely look to be the hot ticket for topless motoring.
(More photos after the jump!)

I never thought I'd say this, but I want one. If they finally offer it with a diesel, they can consider it sold.
Hank @ Apr 13th 2006 8:32AM
Very nice. I wanna go shoppin'. And they couldn't have started the four door thing 40 years ago because...?
Anton @ Apr 13th 2006 8:40AM
Wow.. thats cool. I used to have a 94 wrangler 4cyl with a soft top and I hated that damn thing 9 months out of the year.. 4 doors, a hardtop and a 3.7l v6 may make me rethink that, nice job DCX. The interior is also light years ahead of the fisher-price plastic one mine had.

The first picture is sooooooo appropriate! That's not mud, by the way.

I love it. The Wrangler was the first soft-top vehicle I ever took a trip in when I was visiting the US as a 12 year old, so they've got a special place in my heart. I like the idea of a more sparce interior, too, since I'm a believer that function should take precedence over form. Thumbs up from me on the Wrangler Unlimited. And there's talk of a diesel engine for Europe, too.

OK NOW IT'S A FRIGGIN HUMMER. NICE JOB JEEP, WELCOME TO THE MAINSTREAM, CAN'T WAIT FOR THE SPINNERS ON THESE THINGS.
Mike @ Apr 13th 2006 9:05AM
before any other dumbass decides to say this is a copy of a Hummer.. DO A GOOGLE SEARCH FOR THE 1997 JEEP DAKAR CONCEPT!!!!!! To say that Jeep is a copy of a hummer is beyond ignorant.
PS. I am waiting for the production Gladiator...

I like the idea of a 4-door Jeep. A convertible Jeep is just way too much trouble for the average American to convert more than once during ownership. People will buy this thing for the extra doors but rarely for the convertibility. If a button won't do it, Americans aren't going to do it either.

If they offer the wrangler in a deisal to the usa i'll buy one.
Kevin @ Apr 13th 2006 9:28AM
I've been a wramgler owner since 1989, and ugraded to the Cherokee due to a family of five now. Will look at this Jeep for our next family purchase.
Tom Nagy @ Apr 13th 2006 9:32AM

Bill walpole @ Apr 13th 2006 9:34AM

catherine Wienckowski @ Apr 13th 2006 9:35AM
I had a 2005 wrangler unlimited, and then purchased a 2006 Commander, now i know what i am getting this year this baby looks smokin. i cant wait to view in person at show.
zengirl @ Apr 13th 2006 9:37AM
I think the new Jeep is ugly, aesthetically. It looks as ugly as the Hummer. The second door makes it look too long, especially when the top is off.
Juan @ Apr 13th 2006 9:38AM
Looks much better with the half doors. But for my more serious off-road desires, I prefer the old Unlimited. The new wheelbase is just too long.
Cam Saure @ Apr 13th 2006 9:41AM
Nice MALL CRAWLER for girls. What are they going to offer for serious off roaders? I sure hope that Navistar revives the IH Scout and markets it to a real utility/offroad market and not to soccer moms for a grocery getter. Wake up Jeep!
Tiffany @ Apr 13th 2006 9:41AM
I think the 4 door looks pretty cool. Yes, a little like the Hummer but who cares!! It is a step up from what I have which is the 1995 Wrangler, with soft top and 4 cyl. Get over it you babies... it is what happens as technology goes further.....

I rent a Jeep Wrangler every time we visit our condo in Kona and always come home wanting one. Now I am going to get one, being a realtor that extra room is just what I need. Way to go Folks when can I pick mine up?
pepe @ Apr 13th 2006 9:47AM
the jeep really destroyed their tradeline now it looks like a city car. no more offroad caracter kinda jeep this jeep is a sissy version of what it used to be
Tonia @ Apr 13th 2006 9:47AM
I like it..a-lot! Prefer the one with half doors definitely. I sadly had to get rid of my Wrangler when the kiddies came along, moved to a Cherokee, and now I am driving a minivan (please don't laugh)..but if this new unlimited will get me back into a Jeep, I'll take it! (I really miss my Wrangler!!)
