That's what I think is happening here, and I'm thrilled to see it. I prefer the European philosophy on driving (direct steering, firm and controlled suspension, good control rationality, good economy, etc.) but we're continually told that they can't afford to bring in the Euro variants, or that we're too stupid to enjoy them.

GM must have figured that they had the Saturn brand laying around rotting and a bunch of cars in Europe that aren't quite like anything sold here. Their solution is to bring a line of cars we'd never normally see to market. Excellent!

Too bad the cars are some of the worst in Europe. Perhaps Saturn could be that car line once the ION is replaced with a compact that doesn't look ridiculous.

The SKY, AURA, and Outlook should be winners if they're as good mechanically as they look. The VUE is pretty good as it is now.

Could be that Lutz's efforts will pay off. It's likely that if Lutz had been at GM at the time, the Saturn LS and the ION horrors would never have been introduced in the first place because they're such obvious styling losers.

But, if GM can keep the secret under wraps a bit longer, maybe this misconception can be worked into the status of urban myth! That surely can't hurt sales.
