We've been too busy throwing down new posts to attend Spike TV's second annual AutoRox awards, but apparently that didn't stop the cable network from going on with the show at Fremont Experience in Las Vegas. Hosted by rapper/actor Ice Cube and featuring a variety of performances and celebrities, the show is America's only nationwide televised automobile awards ceremony. Chevrolet's Corvette Z06 came away the big winner, netting the night's top honor for "Car of the Year," as well as taking home the "Best Sports Car" and "Deal of the Year" awards.
Other big winners included former Chrysler Chairman and CEO Lee Iacocca, who took home the "Icon Award". Sadly, Snoop Dogg was apparently unable to deliver the award to his golfing buddy, so 24's Kiefer Sutherland stepped in on his behalf.
Other winners include:
-
BEST TRUCK - Honda Ridgeline
-
BEST LUXURY CAR - Audi A8
-
BEST SUV - Land Rover Range Rover Sport
-
HOTTEST EXOTIC - Bugatti Veyron
-
BEST TUNER - Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX
-
BEST CONCEPT CAR - Chevrolet Camaro
-
BEST MUSCLE CAR (viewers' choice) - Dodge Charger SRT8
Catch the delayed broadcast on Tuesday, April 18th on Spike TV, when it airs from 10pm-11:30pm Eastern.

Best Truck.. Ridgeline??
Guys come'on!! I'm not knocking the Ridgeline, but there are minivans that have higher towing capacity..
And they pick a car like the Veyron as the hottest exotic (OK, fine) but then give the A8 best luxury car...(WTF!!!)
Joel A @ Apr 10th 2006 12:41PM
I agree with Corey about the A8. I like the vehicle but best luxury car? Bimmer supporters must be having conniptions! Personally, I'd vote for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
Slo-Mo-Shun @ Apr 10th 2006 12:52PM
The Ridgeline oWns j00
WillDaThrill @ Apr 10th 2006 1:33PM
Also agree with Corey. If you are going to vote a best truck, it should be able to do what other trucks do. How can it be best truck with a one option V6. I love that commercial when the Ridgeline is at a construction yard, but doesn't actually work. One power options as opposed to 2 or 3? Best truck my ass, I think there was a whole lot of banwagoning going on here.
Best SUV Land Rover? How many people actually drive a Land Rover? Oh yeah, company executives...you see what happens when out of the loop execs take over?
Kevin L @ Apr 10th 2006 2:02PM
PEOPLE, PEOPLE, Remember who made this list, and who voted. you got a bunch of wanna-be car people out there, reading stupid mags like MotorTrend, who votes truck of the year by which truck looks the most stupid. and the rest of the guys voting think WWF is real wrestling. Oh1 the other factor.....Which car in each class is there the most stupid shit avainlible in the after market? yea, that about sums it up.......but wait, look who sponsers the show, think that might affect who wins what? cya!

Audi makes a fabulous car. Truely underrated, very well built, and very well outfitted. It has great performance, design, and fit and finish.
Only when you own an Audi, do you truely know that it is superior.
Lets recall the mechanical problems with BMW and Mercedes. (My friends 745LI was in the shop 4 of its first 12 months of ownership. And from what I have heard, Mercedes is no better.)
wow, just wow @ Apr 10th 2006 4:32PM
The Ridgeline is barely a truck. And it sucks.
The A8? Audi sells like 4 a year. I think even the Acura RL outsells it!
Best SUV? Land Rover Range Rover Sport? A car that isn't even actually a Range Rover (it's a LR3 gussied up), costs a mint, pretends to be an offroader (and gets offroader MPG) and yet can't do crap offroad.
I mean wow, these are the worst choices ever.
Wait, I take that back, in the Spike TV video game awards they gave the "best game" award to a game that wasn't even released in the eligibility window (King Kong).
Spike truly has the worst awards shows there are.

iNOMAD,
I'm not holding anything against the A8, in fact I LOVE the car, My wife even wants one!! And she knows squat about cars... ;-)
But if you're going to pick a Vehicle like the Veyron for BEST in one catagory, then pick the A8 as BEST, Ok, let me say that again... BEST.... in the luxury catagory, it doesn't work...
Rob @ Apr 10th 2006 10:08PM
I agree with the range rover but not the A8, it has no reason to be there. I love the 2006 range rover and range rover sport. I read a review over at http://www.rangerover2006.com and I have to say that their 2006 Range Rover Sport 2006 has great gas mileage and standard Prices.
Ben @ Apr 11th 2006 12:46AM
Rob, come on. A claimed 18-19 mpg is "great gas mileage"? $60-70K base price is "standard prices"? What world are you living in? Their picks for both Best SUV and truck are for vehicles that are much more at home on the street than off the road. I say if for best exotic you're going to pick the most exotic vehicle available, then for best SUV you should be picking something like a Hummer H1 Alpha. If you're spending $70K on the range rover you might as well throw in the extra $30K for that. Either that or pick an affordable SUV that can get the job done well.

spike tv should do this show live, so real car lovers all across the U.S. could call in to vote for #1 !!!! not just tv exects.. I feel that the winner of all of these awards, was the company with the most advitersing on spike...... great idea for a car show, too bad they screwed it up with TERRIBLE picks!!!! Britt Berden.
steve @ Apr 19th 2006 12:19AM
The evo is a great car.But i did not even see a srt-4 in there.
Bob @ Apr 19th 2006 2:21PM
Best Muscle car? Better name for this catagory would be "New crap cars that people who got beat up in High School think are cool" Muscle cars are a term of the sixties. The only reason auto manufacture use the term is to tie into a past THEY keep reliving vise coming up with something truly new.
Gene @ Apr 20th 2006 1:47AM
Does any one know where I can find a list of the upgrades they made to the Mustang GT? I have done a Google search. So far no luck.
I believe they said they used Eibach springs and 3D Carbon body effects kit. And some kind of 20" rims and tires. And brand-X shocks.
Z-06 "Car of the Year"? Great supercar yes. But "the best"? Guess it depends how you look at it. What the judging criteria was. If "bang for the buck" was a factor then YES.
My pick would have been the Ferrari F430. :)

This Autorox show was nothing short of pathetic. I tuned in to see what the hype was about and I honestly could not believe they would put this garbage on the air. When Ice Cube was rapping his crap they panned the audience to show a bunch of losers be-bopping like they were gangsta rappers themselves..furthermore, adding more insult on my intelligence, as the luxury car candidates were being announced, the audience blows up with woo-woos for the Mercedes S & BMW 7-Series. Half the fools in the audience can't even come close to having one of these cars and they are cheering like a rock star came on to the stage. Is it just me, or should Autorox be re-named to Autosux?
