Kia's redesigned Carens MPV coming to U.S.
Kia sells a
compact MPV in markets abroad by the name of Carens and its due for a
redesign. The Korean company has released a sketch of the reskin and announced that its world premier will be at the
Spanish Motor show on May 25. The new MPV follows the familiar trend of being longer, wider and taller than the vehicle
it replaces, which will suit our North American market just fine when it arrives under the moniker of
“Rondo” sometime in the near future.[Source: motoring.iafrica]

Rondo? That's the best name they could come up with? You could crack open a dictionary to any page and find a word better than that.

Boy! When I bought my Kia ,Sephia in 97 they were on the verge of bankruptcy, now Kia is mainstream and kicking butt. Maybe GM might take a few lessons from a little guy who is headed for big guy status.

Looks great!! Bring over the crossovers!
The picture might not be as accurate as you think.
I thought Kia was going to bring out a roadster? Still waiting!
Kia's facelifted Sorento and Amanti should be coming soon.

I think that hollywood extra pic is of the older model. The newer one looks different as you can see from these spy pics.

Things are getting interesting. First the Mazda5, now the Kia Carens/Rondo.....Toyota is said to be looking at additional NA plant capacity to build a "tall wagon", Honda's long rumoured "Latitude" is supposedly still coming (maybe they'd better rename it Late-itude)
and there are spy pics floating around of an extended version of Nissan's Note (Note Maxi).

Well, it's fairly understandable that people are beginning to have an interest in lower fuel consumption vehicles, since last year at this time, gas was $2.11 a gallon and I just filled up this morning at $2.67.
Look for $3.00 per gallon this summer and $4.00 a gallon on the east and west coasts, as a guess.
Prediction: SUV sales are going to tank.

Now I see the attraction with large wheels. The tiny wheels on the model in David's posting look rediculous. It needs 17" wheels to look half way decent. Also, what's up with the tailgate's odd-looking protusion? A spoiler? Won't work at all.
I'll stick with the Sportage. Now if only I can find some spy photos of the 2007 model I'm probably going to get...
