Audi A7 coupe in the works
You've heard about the
skads of new cars coming out of Audi in the near future... the A2 shooting brake (MINI, here we
come!), Q5 SUV, A3 and A5
verts, the Roadjet,
and not to mention the next TT. Now Audi
lovers can look forward to the brand's answer to the Mercedes CLS -- the Audi A7 coupe. The four-door coupe fits nicely
in terms of size between the A6 and A8 (kinda like the number 7, dontchathink?), and should show its pretty little face
in concept form this November when the Los Angeles Auto Show moves to the fall.

I don't think this latest fad will last. The CLS, like a sports car, will sell strongly at first then flame out once the new has worn off. From what I hear many owners don't like the cramped interior and poor rearward visibility.

What I especially don't get about the CLS is that it drives pretty much the same as an E-Class. Shouldn't a coupe, if that's what this is, feel sharper and more responsive? These are coupes American style.
The A7 might or might not suffer from the same issues. I don't get that it will be larger than the A6, especially not in terms of interior volume. The PRICE will simply be between the A6 and A8.

What platform are they going to use for this, A6 A8 or all new?
If it is all new, how does this platform share with VW? I remember the photoshops from a few months ago about a VW Phaeton/Passat 4 door coupe...

Karesh. They are not coupes. They are sedans with styling preference over utility. Anyone who calls them coupes (or 4-door coupes) is a moron (even the manufacturer, since the meaning of the word 'coupe' is very specific.
Your comaprison with sports cars is bogus though. A sports car is a genre more than a style (abeit sports cars are traditionally 2 seater and little concern given to utility). Sports cars were targeted in purpose - always have and always will be. They pretend to be nothing else. They are not a 'fad' as people have and always will buy them.

The CLS look way better.
The headlights on this pic remind me of those in new Toyota Camry
Audi had better bring this in with RWD/AWD instead of the stupid FWD bs they got going

Hey, G. Snyder, I think the only moron here is you.They can be called 4 door coupes, as the styling reflects that of its two door counterparts yet retaining needed cargo and people space. Thus, the 4 door coupe. You really need to think before you say anymore bogus crap, dude.

I would take this car over the similar lines Mercedes CLS anyday, but that could only be because I am a bigger fan of Audi :)
