Getting excited for Pixar's 'Cars'

About the only company in the world having a better decade than Toyota is Pixar, the computer animation studio responsible for Toy Story, Toy Story 2, A Bug’s Life, Monster’s Inc., Finding Nemo and The Incredibles. Steve Jobs’ side project was recently bought by Disney and the first picture to be officially released under the ownership of the Mouse is Cars, which features the voices of Paul Newman, Owen Wilson and Richard Petty.
Many have wondered out loud whether even Pixar has the creative talent to write an interesting story about talking cars, and after watching the newest trailer for Cars we can say we’re genuinely excited to see this flick. The trailer actually reveals some clever product placement for Porsche in the film, as the lead character’s love interest is a pale blue Porsche 911.
Check out the new trailer here and let us know what you think in the comments.

I was really wary of this movie from the spots they've been showing up to now. But this new trailer (especially in HD really makes me want to see this movie. The scenery is just jaw-dropping and the little joke about the "tramp-stamp" is hilarious.

Kids hell, I'm 61 years old and I can't wait to see it. Of course when it comes to fast Hudson Hornets I'm still a kid and so is our '51 Hornet!

I've always thought it looked like one long Chevron Techron advertorial. But man that looks awesome. Great product placement for Porsche too.
Car/girl analogies can be taken pretty far, so they have a lot of potential humor to work with.

Like Austin I wasn't sure at first, either. But after seeing this latest trailer, I'm fairly blown away. And I love the look the blue Porsche gives the race car after he says "Corvette?"! Should be a wild ride.

Anyone notice the mountains in the background of the 'southwest' scenes in the trailer? Bonus points for identifying the actual shapes. ;)

loudboxer... I noticed the shapes, and I think one of them is a Pontiac?
Also - anyone notice that the contrails in the sky are tire tracks?

I had the opportunity to watch Cars last Tuesday at ShoWest (movie theatre owners convention) and it was great. Most of the cars are real models. The car sounds are great, story is good and the little car guy details are incredible. John Lasseter gave a speech before the film and he admitted to being a car guy and it shows. Another cute touch is there are flies buzzing around in a few scenes, they are small VW bugs with wings.
Most people I talked to liked the movie but as a car guy I loved it.

Enjoy it while you can folks, this is the last real Pixar movie. Now that Disney owns them and isnt just a distribution partner, its gonna be Monsters Inc 2 and Finding Nemo Again and The Incredibles Meet Bambi from here on out.

Why is it that the cars have eyes on the windscreens when the headlights already make good eyes?
