Nissan Titan to come in commercial versions
Chevy
Silverado 2500 and Ford F-250, look out. Nissan is a-comin' your way with new commercial models of its Titan pickup.
Scheduled to debut as a 2009 model, the commercialized Titan will be based on the upgraded pickup chassis Nissan is
developing, and will offer a diesel engine and other heavy-duty equipment. So far, there's no word on whether a model
will come out to compete with the F-350-level pickups, but the addition to its lineup will likely give Nissan a greater
foothold in the pickup market.

This is a smart move by Nissan. So far, GM and Ford dominate the industrial landscape of America. Consumers might want a change.

You would think as nice a truck as the current Titan is it would have dented the Big 3's sales a little more. I drive one now and like it far better than any of the doemestics or the Toyota I test drove.
It's hard to see how the super patriot, America first types in the heavy duty segment will even give it a chance. That said, if they did give it a chance I'll bet many of them would buy it.

When I had a short stint as a nissan salesguy, one of the most asked questions is whether or not it came in a diesel/heavy duty. I would have had so many construction sales if this were the case. So this is a very smart move by nissan.
I also think the timing will be ideal with the new headquarters about to be finished around the same time this comes out. The marketeers could have a field day with this.
they do need a long bed too though, because you can't put horse trailers on a gooseneck hitch on the short bed of the crewcab. it doesn't clear the rear of the cab.
The titan would look fierce with some duallies in the rear!

If Nissan can get its quality and durability up this could be the killer application.

This is a great move on Nissan's part. The Titan is a great vehicle and a HD version really opens the market up for them.
Anyway, if you're interested in the Nissan Titan and Titan news (This was posted there yesterday :) ) Then check out http://www.titantalk.com

Titans don't sell well because it's build quality and reliability is crap. Give Mississippi another 5 years before they start building reliable cars and trucks.

When parked next to Dodge Ford or Chevy the Titan looks ugly and cheaply made.
I have read about quality issues as well. The American companys may have ignored their cars a bit but trucks do to their own big three competition have been upgraded extensively.

All that, and where is something smaller than a 5.6 litre engine? I buy a truck to schlep a ladder, some tools, and the occasional pallet-load of ballasts. I don't tow, I don't race, and I don't need a huge engine to inflate a baggy jockstrap. Nissan: where is your torque-y V6? Where is your 4.7 to 5 litre V8? I won't even look at a Nissan because they don't offer what I want to buy.

Sorry boys, the Titan is and will be in 2009, a failure. It looks like crap, and its reliablity is crap. It can't go offroad worth a crap. Its fuel economy is crap. If anything, they will pull the Titan from the marketplace and GM and Ford will continue to dominate the truck market as the Silverado/Sierra and the F150 get refreshes and Dodge and Toyota pick up the pieces.

I drive two "American" trucks-a 1999 F-150 4x4 w/37K on it and a 2001 Chev 1500 4x4 work truck with 60K. The FORD had the brakes and O2 sensor go at 25K. Front and rear glass replaced-the factory glass was too small! The doors feel as though they are coming off on gravel roads. The radio is dying. The interior plastic has edges sharp enough to cut your finger.
The Chevy-Both tail lights have actually fallen off. The bed sheetmetal(tin) is seperating. The rear 1/4 panel braces have broken the body sheet metal. The rearview mirrors have to be fixed or replaced every 10K.
The seats are starting to come apart at the seams.
Yeah those American trucks don't have any quality issues at all.
Course our personal 98 4Runner with 75k harsher miles has had ZERO maintenance outside oil changes and the replacement of an antenna I broke off.

Yeah, Ford and GM are so great thats why they are laying off THOUSANDS of people!!! The Titan is by far the best looking full size pickup on the market!!! By 2009, you will see alot more foreign trucks on the road because they are built to last unlike the american vehicles which usually have major problems between 80,000 and 100,000 miles (not to mention foreign cars hold their value)!!!!

I think that a diesel titan is what a lot of us are waiting for. I'm self employed and own a Titan that I've put over 56,000 miles on in less than 18 months so I's say a commercial Titan would fit my needs.

I drove the Ford and Dodge before I bought the Titan. There's no comparison in my book to the quality of the truck. People who bash this truck should go drive one first.
Don't forget, the Titan was designed in America, for Americans, and is built by Americans. My Titan is just as much or more american than some of the Fords that are built where? In Mexico. My point is simply that there are no more borders in the Auto insdustry.
