Geneva Motor Show: Koenigsegg CCX world premiere

Koenigsegg's tagline is "Spirit of Performance," and you'd have to say the CCX lives up to the hype - and then some.
Let's start with the engine, shall we? The DOHC, 4.7-liter aluminum V8 is built by Koenigsegg. Fitted with a dry sump system and twin superchargers, it puts out 806 hp at 6,900 rpm, and 678 ft-lb at 5,700 rpm. All that motivation gets you from 0-62 mph in 3.2 seconds, and through the standing quarter-mile in 9.9 seconds at 146 mph. Top speed is rated at "245 " mph... Power is handled by a custom 6-speed gearbox and a torque-sensitive limited slip differential.
Everything else is pretty much what you'd expect from an over the top supercar - carbon fiber semi-monocoque chassis, slippery carbon fiber/kevlar bodywork (Cd 0.3) with big downforce-generating undercar tunnels and a removable hardtop, double wishbone pushrod suspension all around, 6-piston disk brakes (or the optional 8-piston ceramics), and centerlock mag wheels (carbon/magnesium optional).
When performance is your money-is-no-object goal, the CCX will be high on your shopping list! Lots of Alberto's pictures after the jump.

An interesting car, though, I find the Lamborghini Murcielago far more enticing. And for that matter the Porsche Carrera GT.
That said, those are more mainstream marques. We should cheer on these smaller firms for some of their creations - like this CCX - do further the cause of automobile exotica.

This whole company screams kit car to me...
I wonder if potential buyers will be dissuaded by the fact that they'll probably whack on another 100 horsepower in a few months...

Does the windshield wiper just stay in the middle like that when not in use? Bit of an eyesore, plus I would think it would hurt aerodynamics some.

Duh.
The wiper is centered like that to REDUCE drag.

Duh, sorry. Wouldn't it be less drag to have it tucked away under the rear edge of the hood? Assuming there is room on this car, that is...

I would take a CCX over a Lambo or Ferrari any day. Koenigsegg are a reputable automobile company not a kit car manufacturer. They lead the Top Gear Power Lap for several weeks with at very respectable time (1:23.9). Though it's now 5 seconds down on the likes of the Zonda F and Enzo, the CCX should put them back on top with more than 800 hp, 0-60 of 3.2 sec, and top speed of 245 mph.

hey guys, have you seen other pics of the CCX, like on supercars.net? I don't understand. The exhaust looks like it's closed up! Very different than the Veyron's which is obviously open :( Am I correct, or am I dreaming?

I came across Koenigsegg only a few weeks ago and have been a rabid fan ever since. First of all, the car is Swedish, which by itself is amazing. The country of Volvo and Saab has given the world a truly appealing supercar. Second, the company is just ten years old and has managed to produce a vehicle that at times has held the Guinness world speed record for a production auto.
Founder Christian von Koenigsegg’s cars are exceptional pieces of craftsmanship. I respectfully disagree with the “kit car” comment. Anyone who has spent time working with just about anything manufactured in Sweden, whether it be military aircraft, chainsaws or even matchsticks, knows that this is a country that produces world-class, high quality goods.
Although the car is currently WAY out of my price range, if I did have unlimited resources, I would skip Italy altogether and head straight to Koenigsegg.

I'm sure this thing could rocket you into a telephone pole about as quickly as an Enzo, but for my (imaginary) money for a (ridiculous) car, it has to be the Carrera GT--nothing else makes that incredible noise.*
Also, I don't like to see forced induction on cost-almost-no-object supercars.**
*Except the cheaper, 4-seat, 4-door, M5--a car you could drive in the rain.
** Except the F40. No one is allowed to say anything bad about the F40.

This CCX is my new favorite car,but Im alittle dissapointed.Because its almost the same car as the CCR, the big diferences is that this one has been modified to fit the US market.I wish they could have given it atleast 900hp so that it could give the Veyron a real match.

I love this car and the whole Koenigsegg company. I admire Christian von Koenigsegg and the way he achieved to build super cars such CCR (top speed of the world for a while) and now one like CCX. If I win lottery several consecutive times (lol) I will buy this car.
I also will like to add that CCX has by far better look than Veyron 16.4 and that its price(expected) is less than the half. 600000$us vs 1700000$us (as far as I know)

Awesome car
I have been a fan for years.
Not sure if anyone has seen the Top Gear episode where they test (and crash) it.
Pitty it does not have a wing to produce enough downforce to keep it on the road!
Apparently they are busy developing a Wing for it, which will bring it that much closer to the Veyron!

Ford Powa: 4.7L DOHC from the Mustang Cobras and Panoz cars. Bored/stroked and given a better supercharger though...That is a tough and flexible engine.
