News that Audi might produce a cabrio version of the A3 has been circulating around and it would be a safe bet considering the glut of new models the company has set to debut in the next few years including the RS4 Avant and Cabrio, the S3, R8, A5, a successor to the A2 and next generation TT, among others.

The GermanCarBlog found a nugget of substantiation for the A3 Cabrio’s existence in a German article on Audi’s Annual Press Conference that occurred last week. It simply states it was revealed at the conference that at the end of 2008 the Audi A3 Cabrio will join the lineup. Not much hay is being made of this, so we’ll wait until something materializes before we don our driving scarves and leather gloves.

Would this little A3 not steal the thunder from the only slightly bigger A4 - or vice versa? The two models look so similar the justification could for purchasing the A3 could only be price. In which case, the A4's sales would be in jeopardy.

      It's really nice.

Not to worry, the interior size between the A4 and A3 is significant. I have a S3 and it is much tighter and sportier than my friends A4, appealing to different markets.

seeing this picture, I will say that the best thing you can do to a new VW or Audi front-end is to slap a euro plate on it...

I'm pretty unsure about the real differences between the A3 and A4 still - there seems to be a lot of overlap.
