Kia close to declaring Georgia plant site?
According to a new report, Korean automaker Kia appears one step closer to deciding where it will break ground for a new U.S. plant, and looks to have Georgia on its mind.
According to an unidentified source, word 'round the campfire is that the state is offering the automaker more incentives to build within its borders than any other candidate. For their part, Kia's public relations people are denying the story.
Among those in contention, Lauderdale County is also considered a front-runner, along with Chattanooga, Tennessee, Aiken, South Carolina, Hopkinsville, Kentucky and Decatur, Alabama.

Kia will be breaking 300 000 vehicles this year, a plant will definately increase growth. With the introduction of a brand new lineup in the next year I think it is very wise to invest in a plant.
Good Luck Kia, I like where your going. ^^

Accounts I've read say it will be near LaGrange and West Point in Troup County, Georgia. It's due west of Atlanta on the Alabama border. This location makes sense, because it's far enough away from the closing UAW-controlled plants in Atlanta, yet drawing from an area that can take advantage of Engineering talent from Auburn and Georgia Tech as well as several small colleges in the immediate area.
The manufacturing workforce recently jettisoned by the textile industry in West Georgia will find $16-17 an hour and any form of health benefits is music to their ears.
It would also be located just a couple hours tops from the Hyundai plant in Montgomery - allowing for synergies between the plants.

With the Taurus plant closing just up the road, those jobs will be welcome, even if the pay isn't anyway as much.

The Kia plant in this area is exactly what is needed for people to be able to survive the declining Textile Industry. I am hoping and praying that Kia chooses the West Georgia area.
