Put on your acid wash jeans and brush out your feathered locks, people, because we're about to revisit the '80s. Autoblog reader Steve sent us a link to this Google video of the Isuzu Gemini showing off some physics-defying stuff -- and we all know how bad CG was back then, so it's more than likely these stunts are the real deal.

Please don't try this at home with your Aveo. Not all small cars are made alike.

I remember hearing about these ads and how they really did wonders for the popularity of the car. Geminis were wildly popular in Japan during this time (late 80s). Even here in the US, I remember wanting an I-Mark RS 16v Handling By Lotus when I was in high school.

Very, very cool! That was fun to watch. I can't even imagine how much fun it would have been to film, let alone be a driver in the commercial.

An otherwise cool video ruined by some idiot with a bad MP3 collection. Par for the course with most car videos these days, it seems.

I like the isuzu one better because it seemed to have more technique and stunts, and less drama than the Saab one. As for the song, I think it fits the movie and its time period well, but you won't ever find it in my music collection.

      Incredible footage!!!

The song is "She Moves" by Karaja and it was released in 2002 so just to clarify, the music is not original.

Wow! There was a French guy Remi Julienne, that was the guy in France for such things. You can do some googling on him, you may learn more about this. it must be him.

I remember my 1988 Isuzu I-Mark. navy blue, 4 door sedan econobox. Bought it for $2900, and it lasted me 50K. I should have taken better care of it. Was a zippy little car, but alas I didn't know enough about auto mechanics and I sold it for $500.

A friend had a Stylus, and it felt like my I-mark with $2000 worth of cheap auto accessories bought at Pep Boys.

Indeed. The Isuzu ad makes the Saab one look lame. It crams double the awesome into half the time.

      It's. So. Beautiful.

I love how even with doing all the incredible maneuvers, the drivers remember to use their turn signals in the subway. Safety first!

I love it, GM systematically runs a good little company into the soil. NOw, in year 2006, people would LOVE a small, fuel-efficient diesel runabout which get's 60mpg.

Where are Isuzu's small diesels in N. America? Nowhere!! I swear to Christ, there's the old saying "You'd F-up a free lunch if it were given to you"...and that pretty much about sums it up.
