VIDEO: Speed bump in Dubai sends Gallardo airborne
This
video is the exact reason why we
restrict the Weblogs, Inc.-issued company Lamborghini Gallardo to track use only. The government of Dubai installed a rather large speed bump on a street that locals had developed a habit of travelling on at very high speeds. Only one minor problem, the government didn't tell anyone it had installed the speed bump. Without a sign of warning vehicles hit the mound and leave terra firma, only to land in a shower of sparks as their suspensions bottom out. The final car in this video, a Lamborghini Gallardo, nearly flips tail over nose when it hits the speed bump, which, again, is why we only drive ours on the track.

The video freezes about half way through for me, but the audio keeps playing. :-(

Same here. Plus the quality is SO crummy.

A perfect example of how speed bumps take an unsafe situation and make it worse.

1 & 2 - Download the video clip to view it without it acting funny.

I saved the video locally and played it back using RealPlayer and the freeze went away. That Lambo going tail up is sick.

Why do you have to use the 2nd crappiest video source out there (ie: Quicktime). Put it in WMPlayer and let me use my full screen to enjoy the beauty of flipping Lambo's or save it for enjoyment later when work gets to be too much.
I vote for NO MORE QUICKTIME!!!

Quicktime is not the issue. Use iTunes, and you can view it full screen no problem. If you want a good standard format, use MPEG. Cross-platform, and everyone is pretty much happy, and you could use Windows Media Player if you so choose.
Anyways, still fun to see.

Is the Government of Dubai immune from lawsuits? I don't really understand how this kind of thing could happen.
As to the .mov extension, it worked fine for me. And I'm (begrudgingly) on a windoze machine.

I've got every codec known to man and this doesn't play beyond the minivan freezeup in Media Player Classic, Quicktime player, or iTunes. The audio plays on, however. It sounds great, but I can't view it.
How about fixing the link to the original source?
or posting a functioning version of the video?

No video lags for me. There were a few pauses in between but that's due to editing different scenes with different cars. Maybe you might want to check your computer's specs or possibly upgrade your Quicktime player. I downloaded the new version last week.
Otherwise, sucks to be the owner of that Lambo.

I've got the most recent version of Quicktime, as well as a few more sophisticated media players. Defiler pak's most updated codecs.
XP Pro with SP2, adware & spyware free.
amd 3400+, gig of RAM & an ATI 9800 pro.
Freezes at the same place, each time, across a wide variety of players, embedded and stand-alone.
Booooo!

The video worked fine for me. Did the passing cars even know about the speed bump? Those guys are frickin idiots.

I just start the vid past the point where it freezes, and I get to see the rest. Pretty easy.

In general governments are immune from suits unless they have specifically waived their "sovereign immunity." The US has carved out huge exceptions to its immunity--democracies are like that. Oh well more taxes for all.

No warning that they installed it?
Then whats the flashing red light for?
I also have problems getting the vid past the half-way point.
And, screw Quicktime, its insidious.

Wow. Quicktime for me always seems 100X better than any .wmv format, at least when it's .mpeg, I guess not .mov. I always hate the .wmv files even though they're smaller just because the movie quality is atrocious - all pixelated and jerky. Quicktime .mpegs usually can be dvd quality depending on the resolution used.

it froze up for me too... so I downloaded it and viewed it with Quicktime locally. I dont know what the big deal is. Windows Media is actually worse... just try scanning through any video in WMV... what a pain.

This is the final proof that Dubai just has too much money.
First, they build huge islands in the shape of the globe. Then, they build an indoor snow park. And now this!
