Saab Aero-X concept set for Geneva
Trollhattan Saab has been trolling for info on
Saab’s plans for the upcoming Geneva Motor Show and has turned up some juicy tidbits. According to what the site
refers to as a “reliable source”, Saab will be unveiling a concept called the Aero-X that will highlight
the brand’s aviation heritage, express a clear design tradition with Scandinavian roots and showcase progress and
innovation. The name implies implies AWD, but we’ll have to wait until later this month to find out for sure when
we bring you coverage of the Geneva show as it happens.

In the March 2006 Issue of Automobile Magazine SAAB has a fold out centerfold telling about their involvement in the aero buisness. One problem! The company that does their advertising is so historicaly incorrect I would start questioning who let this ad go out. Quote: "After World War II, there wasn't a demand for jets anymore." So SAAB got into the auto industry.
The only jets in WWII were used by the Germans at the end of the war. No one else had operational jets for combat purposses until after the war including SAAB. In fact there was no Swedish air craft industry thanks to the germans till after the war. Four years after WWII when the Korean War kicked off in 1950 most air forces around the world had jet fighter aircraft made by the U.S.,Russia,or Great Britian. SAAB built jets and were best known for the VIGGEN Fighter. Their involvement with jets as far as time frame goes runs almost parralel to their auto company.

UPDATE: 400hp Biopowered engine. Likely the V6. The "X" designation would be AWD if they're consistent.
I think this'll be a biggie!
And John - nitpicking. "Born from Jets" sounds cooler than "Born from airplanes". The quote is simply a tie-in with the ad slogan. I don't think it's a big deal to anyone.

The contradiction is the demand for jets started at the end of world war II. Most people grduating from a U.S. college can't even tell you when WWII took place and who fought in it. Do we have to add to this dumbness? There was no demand prior to WWII or during, but after. SAAB didn't have a jet industry at the time to switch from to make automobiles. So their ad is a lie.

Lets see what SAAB does in the auto market from this point forward. I hope GM has no more intensions to treat SAAB like a foreign stepchild that they want to make look silly and then laugh at. 9-2X and 9-7X are jokes. I'm not really feeling the front-end design of the new 9-5's, but it is an improvement. SAAB, do not share designs with Chevy! Lets see real designed SAABs and also stop dupe'n SAABs into Caddys

Saab were building jets for the Swedish Air Force from
1946 onwards including the J21,Lansen & Tunnan before the Viggen came along. They were building jets at the time the SAAB 96 was being developed.

Saab is screwed, with all the GM influence I have lost all faith in them. Every model now has GM influence except for the 9-2 but that is soon to be gone. It just pains me to see GM rape another good car company.
