A downpour of new Audi designs
Watch out, Mr. Bangle, I think Audi might be becoming the new BMW. Autobild has pics and design drawings of the new Audi models coming out in the near future, and as something of a BMW fangirl, I'm finding myself in the uncomfortable position of liking the looks of these cars better than their BMW counterparts, assuming these renderings are up to snuff. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the German language, GermanCarBlog has a good summary and graphics pulled from the Autobild site to entertain us Yankees. Graphics include upcoming (or rumored) models of the A4, A5 (the A5 coupe is pictured), RS5, A5, RS4 Avant, Audi TT, and Audi TT RS.

As a long standing 'German only' automotive enthusiast, I have had an intimitate relationship with BMW and Audi for over a decade.
Bangle's ideas for BMW rubbed me the wrong way when they first appeared, but they did grow on me. Audi on the other hand since the B5 A4 has continually impressed me with their simplicity in design. It seems they are definitely holding true to this concept. WELL DONE!

those look like they were thrown together in one evening! Especially the FX45 turned Q5 rear, bleh! They didn't even TRY with the TT, or the RS4 Avant, or the A5 Cab! Despite the poor proportioning and fastback-eration of all the models, they're interesting nonetheless, especially the panel lines.
but as an audi fan, they don't do the brand's real designers justice. sketches would be a better investment of time for these autobild guys

Watch out BMW !!
The only problem Audi has is parent VW. Though it might beb etter with Piech gone.

"Watch out BMW"??? I don't think so Krishna.
Audi is coming out with some lovely models. RS4, the new S6: http://performancegt.com/blog/_archives/2006/2/3/1741464.html
These designs are unmistakably "AUDI". Diplomatic muscular lines that can't be confused with any other marquee. That's what I like most about Audi. It's ability throughout the years to remain true. Now comparing Audi with BMW is not even an issue. BMW will always be the "driver's" car. Rear wheels are for pushing, Front wheels are for steering. End of.

I'm put off by the "gaping maw" approach to grill design.
It reminds me of the Planet Eater episode in the original Star Trek series.

Whoa. Take a look at the A4 rendering. At first, I didn't understand where they were heading with the most recent A4 redesign but now I get it. That thing is gorgeous!

The new A4 is exactly what I look to replace my '02 A4 with in a couple of years.
Great look!!!
And one day, if/when Audi gets RWD ...;->>

Rigggghht. I agree w/Nick. Whatever you think about the way their cars look, BMW just plain "gets it" when it comes to driving dynamics. The A4 coupe looks nice, but it will weigh close to 4000 lbs and be more of a touring car (as all Audis are these days).
