Opel launches Astra TwinTop
Opel's TwinTop is the latest in the
current wave of coupe-cabriolets/retractable hardtops to hit dealers. The Astra TwinTop debuted at the 2005 Frankfurt
Auto Show (photo at right), and production cars are rolling out in Germany this week.Prices start at about $28,650 in Germany, and range upward to about $36,300 for the top-line Cosmo version. The car is powered by GM's Ecotec four-cylinder engine family, with the most powerful unit a 200 hp, 2-liter turbo. A 1.9-liter common-rail diesel is also offered.

My son has bought a Astra Twintop 2007. Day 1, there were problems with the rear windows. The local dealer, St. Christophe in Turnhout, BE, run by the incompetent son-of-the-owner, had an insufficiently trained technician openin the rear and reassembling it, action that made the windows close normally but since, driving without rattling is impossible. So it was opened again by another garage, and things even got worse.
My son asked for a deal switching to another car, but Pascal Potters and Peter Stans opposed this strongly. They also wont take over his car because of the noise, fault they admit...
So now, we must go to court. Warranty by General Motors? No way. We're alone, with an expensive but undriveable car, and nothing Opel will do about it.

If the next Saturn small car is esentially an Astra, could we be seeing this here in the US?
