Wards Auto is reporting that after being available on the market for only one model year the Lincoln Zephyr will be getting an engine upgrade for 2007 in the form of Ford’s new 250-hp 3.5L V6. The engine, which will see its first official duty in the upcoming Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX CUVs, will be manufactured at Ford’s Lima, OH plant.

Motor Trend, meanwhile, is reporting that the 3.5L V6 has been internally codenamed “Cyclone”. While it's not a necessity that every engine produced by an automaker have a catchy nickname, when one resonates with the buying public the results can be a boon for profirts. One need say no more than "HEMI" as proof of that.
