The sacred cow of Google might not be so sacred anymore. According to Autoblog reader Karl, GM is running ads encouraging people to "Google Pontiac." GM head of marketing Mark LaNeve says, "We're touting Google, frankly, because it stands for credibility and consumer empowerment, and we like the association."
And BusinessWeek says that Google likes it that way. The AdWords crew at Google love ad placement because it means that companies that would benefit from folks Googling Pontiac will now, even more than before, want a piece of the pie.
Here's a question for our faithful readers: is there anything sacred in advertising anymore? Or is this actually an ingenious way to get people to build a Torrent online?
