The GM unit in the Land Down Under is the first to receive one of the automaker’s new engines. Codenamed L76, the 6-litre (up from the previous 5.7-litre engine), V8 delivers 260kW (354 hp) at 5600rpm and 510Nm (376  lb-ft) at 4400rpm. It will be installed in several Holden models, including those exported to other countries under the Buick, Chevrolet, and GM Daewoo names. For the U.S. market, the engine will be installed in 2007 model year SUVs.
The new engine will be made in Mexico.
