THIS CAR IS SWEET! Nissan made a smart move designing the new Sentra to resemble the Maxima and Altima. The Altima is their best selling car! That will definitely help increase the sales of Sentras. Don't worry about Kia or Hyundai stealing sales. Their cars do not have the Nissan name, but DO have terrible resale value. Nissan has experienced a hug comeback over the past 4 years. Their sales have continuously increased from year to year.
It's kinda crazy to see all the negative comments about the new Sentra from people who know nothing about it. If you don't know anything about the car or neglect to do a little reserach, you have no credibility to back you up. Nissan has completely transformed the lackluster Sentra into a sleek strong competetor. They increased the engine size, horsepower, length, height, and cargo space. Check out www.nissanusa.com and click on the link for the 2007 Sentra homepage to learn the specs on the car. It's actually pretty impressive. It will be the only car in it's class to offer a CVT (except the Toyota Prius). And the interior is sleek, stylish, and functional. And the recent response at the International Detriot Auto Show has shown overwhelmingly support for the new Sentra.

Everybody is calling the new Sentra ugly. Just look at the Civic; its hidious, especially the Civic Sport.

Looks like a cheap version of the Altima. The Mazda3 will still the king of the hill in this segment.

Like many I was disappointed at first. But it is the Nissan brochure photos that are not nice (They are not real and do not show the real car. Yours are better). But I guess you get used to it and its not that bad looking! I like the short overhangs. The fact it is higher will allow older people to consider it (easier to get in and out) Rear is better than Mazda 3. Could be my next car.

You guys are over-exaggerating big-time. It looks fine. Watch two years from now nobody is going to be commenting on the looks. If anything watch some of you actually say that it's good looking.

I bought a yellow 2003 Spec V, put on Nismo cool air induction, a Nismo header, Nismo catback exhaust....It hauls ass! After the butt ugly front end downgrade in 2004, where they got away from the mini Skyline look, I was wondering who would take one of these and soup it up with the highly advertized Nismo after market bolt ons. They EXACTLY shot themselves in the foot in 2004.
As I eagerly awaited the new body style, I fantasized that they would fix their mistake and market it as a cool car again. How dissapointing!!! They have created a version of their styling department's mode of transportation to and from work....THE SHORT BUS!

I have to say this has grown on me a bit more since I first saw it, but it still lacks any hint of (a) the sportiness Nissan is getting from halo cars like the Z; (b) the sportiness it hints at in its own marketing which has kept the Sentra going in the face of far newer competition; and (c) a suggestion of being futuristic as implied by its slogan. I think Nissan's American buyers would have liked something a bit more excitinglike the Primera was in its segment in Europe.
Incidentally, to no. 8 above, it is a reclothed Renault M?ne, according to Automobile magazine.

I actually feel this is much more stylish than my 2001 vovlo s40. I kind like the design and think it is very nice and cute.
Although it does look cheap in some part, some details are still good. Tail lights and shift sticks for example, are well designed, the instrument panel has a simple and a little funny/relaxing look, but the fet and fininsh seems much better than those found in a Neo or Ion. Just need a chrom strip at the bottom of window and 4 bigger wheels, and it'll looks gerat and well...different.
however, I can see the problem is that this kind of design is not typical US buyer's favorite, in other word, it's not aggrasive or muscle. I'm sure it will be popular in Asia and Europ, but not so certan about North America. Well, who knows, XB, Element and Redgeline seemed very ugly at the begining but now consider unique and stylish.

I'm so glad everyone see's The Saturn ION in this. I'm extremely disappointed in Nissan. Why?!?!?! Why the ION? The ION is a terrible, terrible, terrible design that doesn't resonate with anyone, especially the target age group Nissan is aiming for. I used to love Nissan, but now I just don't see them lasting all that long with the likes of Hyundai (and their vastly improved reliability) and now Chinese manufacturers poising to enter the marketplace. Since this is built on the Megane platfom, Why couldn't they just leave the megane alone and just re-badge it a Nissan? Maybe change the grill and lights or something?
Nissan... Good luck with this one!
Oh... The interior is awesome! (Sans the dash mounted shifter... Yuck)

Wow. My brother said i shoulda waited to get my 2005 Sentra cuz it was being redesigned in 2007. I am glad i did not wait. This thing is...EW. I can't believe Nissan is putting that out there to sell! Good luck to them with selling it...wonder what the SER and SPEC-V's are gonna look like? I certainly hope the body style is changed a little to make it look more menacing, if so i might be tempted to trade in my 05 for the 07, if not, looks like im stayin with the 05.

All I can say is whoa! It looks like Altima and Ion had a love child and called it Sentra. I have had 4 Sentra's, and will not buy another after seeing this style. Nice dash, but thats all I can say about that. I am wondering what the original design was, because I think this one is butt ugly!

you remember when george bush made that comment that made everyone whince...yea when I saw that I did the samething. I'm sorry but the oringal sedan/hatchback design was better. I just got to liking the new design of the Maxima and with this Maxima "Mini me" it doesn't help. Honestly if i was paid 35K for the Maxima I don't want some block in a Sentra, that costs half as much, to park next to me and someone to think "oh wow they bought the same car." Maybe the engine can make up for this Maxima "mini me." Any word on an SE-R version?

I like this car.If anybody wants to criticize its design , please look at the new Honda Civic's one.

First of all, why all of the criticism? From what I read, it seems that most of you don't care for any Nissan car - whether it's the Maxima, Altima OR Sentra. So with that said, why are you even making comments about it? People who DO like the Sentra and are looking to buy it are looking for the pros... which to your disbelief are some in the new Sentra. People will skip over the cons most of the time because people who make these comments have no experience whatsoever with the car. Granted, there are cons, but you can't expect 'perfect' from a vehicle less than 20 grand. If you are looking for 'perfect,' you need to look for a luxury vehicle.
You have to admit, this is a great improvement from the former designs of Sentra. Personally, I like how Nissan makes their cars all similar. You know it's a Nissan. You can't mistake an Altima, Maxima or the new Sentra for anything else. That is if you really know Nissans. Don't compare a Nissan with a Saturn. I'm not sure how Saturns even sell. If you want a true piece of dump, buy one of them.
I own a '97 Sentra. It isn't the greatest looking year model, but it's very dependable and drives great. Again, I emphasize, stop looking for perfection in a low priced automobile. Go spend 50 or 60 thousand dollars on a car, and then you can be negative all you want to!

I drive a 2002 spec-V and love it, but the 2007 model insults my definition of beauty. I beg Nissan, not put that on the market.

I am really disappointed!! I am on my second Sentra..I had a '93 until last year and bought a '05...I LOVED the roomy '93 square design...the '05 is smaller, this '07 looks smaller still...do NOT like the "fat", "squatty" look at all nor do I like the interior. Wish they'd go backwards on their design to the bigger windshield, roomier interior, more trunk space....was thinking about an '07...not anymore.
