2007 Jeep Compass: live shots

Again, you’ve already been handed enough official pics and specs on the 2007 Jeep Compass here, so here are some live shots of the most un-Jeep ever.
The Compass is considered an “urban” Jeep, able to tackle anything your garden variety Subaru could overcome.
It’s just weird to see a Jeep that seems more car than truck, kind of like the first time you saw RuPual not dressed in drag. Just weird.

More celebrities, this time Angie Harmon.

Yeah, it does look funny. I am sure this will help the CAFE averages for Jeep though. Not a true fit with the brand. Weak. The Dodge Caliber makes more sense on this platform.

No doubt about it.....that's one ugly "Jeep". It's like a mish-mash of styling elements that someone forgot to tie together. Like the result of too much inbreeding....a horrible, disfigured bastard child.
Gremlin meets Aztek meets Jeep. There's not one line on this thing that works.

what happened to the beautiful concept???
oh and yea, I was totally weirded out when I first saw RuPaul out of drag. In fact, I refused to admit that it was him at all.

i don't understand why everyone is so upset about this vehicle, why is it so different than all of the manufacturers getting into the suv market. i see a crossover/ralley car that has a lot of potenial for the 20 somethings in any gender. i understand it's suppose to get up to 30 miles per gallon. so what if jeep expands it's market share, it's about time.

I have to agree with #4. If Porsche has to have the Cayanne to have the development money to keep improving 911's and Boxters, than I suppose we can forgive Jeep for doing the reverse. You won't see me in either one, though.
Infact it is interesting to see in both cases, how badly the familiar brand styling cues translate into the new vehicle genre. The only reason the front of the Compass is considered horribly ugly and ill-proportioned is that it is so recognisably Jeep.

I think DCX is smart to expand the Jeep brand and create a compact vehicle that's practical and is likely to sell in higher volume--especially if gas prices stay high. It will be the butchest small, 5 door on the market.
My only complaint about the style is that ugly C pillar that's becoming too common on "crossover" SUVs. It makes them all look too much the same and cuts rear visibility, too.
The new Toyota RAV4, Nissan Murano, Mazda 3 hatchback, Pontiac Vibe, etc. all have this same window treatment at the rear and I'm getting tired of looking at that style. Enough, already!

It not so bad in live shots I guess it would look good in black with some 18in wheeels and tires on it. But so would the caliber. I could live with them trying to meet fuel requirements under the brand with this car. So imma give it a chance But it no on my list of cars to buy personally.

I don't hate it, but something just isn't gelling with it for me. I think they should have used a slightly different face than the Liberty's face, looks tacked on.

This is a Jeep but in name only. I doubt that the running gear below that tepid sheet metal has any transfer cases or solid axels. This is just a Chrysler clone, another car with a boxy body that tries to pass off as being something else than a car. The lack of ground clearance makes this thing not even worthy of the "off-road" qualification.

This thing is foogly. See kids, this is what happens when a Liberty, Highlander, Envoy, and a Murano mate. It just was not meant to be.

This "thing" is one more attempt to appease the yuppy masses. It's disappointing that Jeep would stoop so low (and I'm not just talking about the clearance).

I don't see what all the fuss is about. I love Jeep and the Wrangler/TJ is my favorite car. This new Compass will not change my feelings towards jeep. I just won't buy one.
If jeep wants to put out something different, so be it. But I don't want it.
I will be buying a new TJ/Wrangler when they put the Diesel in it.

It will be interesting to see how many of these things are sold. Personally it is kinda stupid if you ask me. Jeep should stick to their name and make quality offroad/trailrated vehicles. This "Urban Jeep" started to peak its nose with the newer cherokee models and then crossed the line with the SRT-8 idea. Wranglers are Jeeps. The liberty is a little more of a practical Jeep, and the Cherokee went from practical to yuppy 4x4. Also, as a Jeep owner I have no shame to agree with Mike. Subarus kick ass.

How is this new Jeep going to be different than the Dodge other than sheet metal?
I do hope they have some new paint colors at least.
Does the Jeep offer higher ground clearence than the Dodge? I hope so.
Look forward to seeing it in person anyway.
