Lamborghini to India in 2006

Lamborghini is among the high-end boutique automakers feeling increasingly bullish about the burgeoning Indian high-end car market. The Italian marque has just announced that it will bring its 'volume' model, the Gallardo, to India in the first quarter of 2006.
Lamborghini is following the lead of Rolls-Royce, Maybach, and Bentley, who have all made recent forays into the marketplace. Locals shouldn't expect to see the angular exotics on every street corner, mind: Lamborghini reportedly only expects to ship two to three in all of 2006. This is probably just as well-- with nightmarish tales of deplorable roads and unebbing, undisciplined traffic, whether their new owners will actually have a place to run their bulls remains an open question.

There are a few acceptable roads in New Delhi, near the government buildings and embassies...but that's about it.

Hmmm, considering the surrounding countries are having problems with food shortages, political turmoil and most of India is still sweating out to earn a decent wage, would this be fuelling the fires of discontent and creating a 1950's style Cuba-syndrome?

Though I've never been to India, I also wondered about the road quality. But then, most Indian cities seem to be too crowded anyway for spirited driving, so I guess there'll be enough time for the drivers to look out for road irregularities - at least, if the reports I've seen and read so far are any indication.

I don't know how people are going to drive the car there because the cities are crowded and the roads are full. Also with all that trafic the car is going to be dinged in the first few weeks.

There is absolutely no market for Lamborghini in India ! The reason - driving a car like that is inviting trouble from Income Tax Raids. Anyone who is in a position to buy one must have evaded taxes. The movie stars most definitely evade taxes in India.

Ok..next time dont talk through your hat. I suppose you can drive a lambo flat out on London Roads? How about newyork? or Sydney? Or the Mumbai-pune expressway? Before you guys comment on a country make sure u do some good research..India is in the process of(and in most places has) an excellent road network that is state of the art. By 2010 the whole country will have expressways in every nook and corner. And it is getting more and more prosperous everyday. So lamborghini just wants a presence right now and by 2015 i cant see why they cant shift a few 100 cars a year
